    BGS Submission's

    Got these back last week.

Happy with this one, though an extra 1/2 point would've been great.

    confused on this one. How does an 8, 9, and 2 9.5's = 8.5?

    thanks for the look.

Nice cards. The reason you got a 8.5 on the Lincy is because the overall grade can only be a .5 above the lowest grade. That is why a lot of people get mad when they get their grades back 9.5 9.5 9.5 and a 6 and the overall grade would be 6.5, I have seen this happen quite a bit.

I did not know that. Thanks for the insight. Still don't know how it got an 8 for centering. I just don't see it.

They could have done a 8.5 on centering bringing it up to a 9.I do see more gray where the white boxes run vertical on the right side than the left though.Never the less Sweet card.

That is not correct. A cards overall grade can be 1 full point above it's lowest subgrade.

Nope, that was changed in the summer of 2010.... can not be more than .5 higher than the lowest grade.

    9, 10, 10, 10 = 9.5
    8, 10, 10, 10 = 8.5
    7, 10, 10, 10 = 7.5

I spoke to them about this at the national last summer in baltimore, actually arguing over a card.

well actually if your're a big customer of bgs sending cards very frequently etc., surely you will have gotten a better centering grade, this sucks as it stands you can only get .5 higher than the lowest grade as mention, then why give the card an over all grade if it gets a 7,8 etc in a category we know that ur only getting half a point higher over all, I don't want to see a 6,10,10,10 only to find out that I got a 6.5 as a final grade, where is the balance on a graded card, I have a kobe Bryan skybox rookie that it just look perfect to my eyes, I don't send cards often keep this in mind, so I send it out for grading 1 year ago, got it back as 9, I crack the case and send it back and got a 9.5, I just crack the case again this past week and I'm sending it back to them to see what I'll get, I decided to do this only as a test to find accuracy on their grading.. this is off topic so getting back to your card it's still a sweet card...

I agree that BGS is VERY inconsistent with their grades. They have changed over the years. What was once an 8.5 is now a 9. A 9.5 is now a 10 (but you have to be a BIG time submitter to be given the laxity to get a 10).

I have had more than a few problems with BGS and I will share them all with you once I can get them all down in a logical manner.

They have damaged several of my cards and then blamed me for the damage even when i showed them 300 dpi scans of before and after grading.

They have stolen money for services not rendered.

They play favorites to larger submitters.

They slab trimmed/altered cards and this is not just those uncut sheet cards. I talking actual regular cards.

I have lost faith in BGS. I would not submit any of cards to them. You would be taking a risk that your card will get damaged.
