I'm with you on this one Max. It's funny reading all the comments here so far and seeing that the Hard signed auto's is being heralded as a great thing and a selling point.
IMO all auto's should be hard signed and anything less is just a lazy company that wants to put products out according to their timeline without any thought for the length of the process.

Not all hard signed this sure looks like a sticker auto to me.

Yep, all the insert autos are sticker autos.

Also, I personally like this much more than SPA. It sure makes a much more interesting break, though the collation is some kind of terrible.

I understand the complaints about collation issues, but I have zero sympathy when it comes to the fact that someone might fail to make money by busting these boxes. If you buy a box of cards and lose money on it, so be it..........this is a hobby, and I don't think Panini, Upper Deck or other manufacturers make any promises to anybody regarding possible profits to be made from their products.

The collation issues are a legitimate complaint, and I don't think anyone will be happy with the sticker autos. However, to base complaints upon the fact that you might lose money seems, to me, completely lacking in credibility. This is a hobby, so why the sense of entitlement when it comes to your return on investment? If you're looking for ROI, I would suggest some aggressive long-term mutual funds.

You're cutting it too black and white.

It isn't so much as making money off of a product by re-selling right away, it's more of a value for your money complaint. If the card companies want top dollar for a product (as they all do) then it better have some value for that money. Collation and sticker auto's are both major flaws to any release, but charging top dollar for something must also have something in return to the customer.

The "this is a hobby" excuse went out the window years ago when high end products came out that caused some people with deep pockets to get involved.

Here is what I dont understand...Panini has put Ovechkin on the front of the Contenders Box, much like they have done with other products like Certified. Certified came out nearly 7 months ago, but yet they still have not sent out any of the Ovechkin Redemption autos from that product. This just feels like false advertising...how can a player be the spokesman for your product and to some the reason why you buy the product but you cannot get a measly 50 autographs out in 7 months?

I've got no issue with your argument, I just think it's foolish when people expect to make a good return on their purchases when it comes to buying boxes. I guess I'm speaking only to the those worried about what they're going to "get back" on a $120 box of hockey cards. I can't think of many other businesses in which you can flip a $120 investment for nice profits in the matter of a week or two, so I have difficulty understanding why the same might be expected of a box of hockey cards. And if you're looking to load up on traders as well as stuff to flip, then I think buying a lot here or on Ebay would always be the better investment.

I'd still argue about the "hobby" excuse, though. Regardless of how much packs/boxes/cases cost, I think it's a pretty tough "business" in which to make money, especially when factoring in the time involved. My pockets aren't as deep as others' here, but I spend a fair amount and consider this nothing but a hobby......maybe that varies between individuals.

As for value for the money, I do agree with you. Panini is not helping their cause in the long term with the collation problems, redemptions and sticker autos. Hopefully they correct that - it would be a shame if they have the same problems with their really high-end stuff.
