It baffles me that Boucher wasn't nominated for coach of the year. I'd scratch Trotz and throw in Boucher. Taking a team to the playoffs from not being in for the past 3 years is one thing, but taking them to the 3rd round is quite another.

I'd take out Vigneault, throw in Boucher and give it to Trotz anyway. Trotz has been the best coach in the league for years, it's about time that's recognized. Boucher has done a helluva job, though.

It's a regular season award though (which is stupid- why discount the playoffs?)

There's a more important trophy awarded for the playoffs.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

True!
I do think, however, that the point being made is a salient one. It has always bothered me that each of the four major professional sports omits the playoffs for their respective coaching awards. Isn't the postseason the highest-leverage time for a coach? Doesn't it normally bring out the best (or worst) in coaching? I get that winning the Stanley Cup is reward enough for the efforts of everyone on the team, but not taking such an accomplishment into consideration when considering the top coach that season is a little unfair.
It just strikes me as odd that each of the "big four" basically negates the significance of coaching in the playoffs and is willing to recognize coaching superiority only for the regular season. I'm sure others will disagree with me on this, but it seems a little strange to me.

The awards should be for the regular season. If it becomes about the playoffs, the season becomes even more useless.

Absolute baloney. I didn't say to base the award solely on a coach's performance in the postseason, but to disregard it altogether does a disservice to the significance of coaching assignments in the postseason.
And the discussion isn't about making "the awards" playoff inclusive, just this one. Because *this* one should reward a coach for not only getting to the playoffs, but actually getting far in the playoffs.

Tough loss. Oh well, Saturday I suppose...

PS...I'm really trying to hold myself back from the boston trolls on the Lightning Facebook page, so frustrating lol.

sounds like you are more frustrated about a facebook page than being down 2 games to 1?

If you do it for one you have to do it for all of them. Once you say the Adams is partially about how far a team gets in the playoffs you'll have people saying it about the Vezina and Hart. This is all besides the fact that voting is done prior to the playoffs.
