um quick qestion hows it interference if he had the puck?
the stretcher was no "much" that scum rome is a goon
chara actually hits...something those canucks are not used to

How does he have the puck if it's still in the air? Another question, why is Thomas allowed to blocker a guy in the chest?

I'm not going to get into the stretcher thing again, but Rome is no more a goon than Chara. Just ask Pacioretty.

Good on the NHL for getting tougher on hits like these, but as Wickabee said above, severity of injury shouldn't play into it. And Mike Murphy basically said in his news conference that Horton missing the remainder of the series DID play a factor in the decision to give Rome four games. It's an absolutely ridiculous way to police the game, and it makes me sad, because now, if a guy has the stones to get up and walk away from a dangerous hit, the league is basically saying "Oh, well let's not be TOO aggressive in how we punish the perpetrator, because the guy got up."

I really hope the league gets its act together, and soon. These incidents do nothing but bring out the worst in people. The players and coaches all say the suspensions are either too light or too severe, and retribution becomes an immediate issue moving forward. Journalists get all high and mighty on the issue, using their respective platforms to shove their opinions down our throats as if telling us how we're supposed to feel or think about it.

And the fan reaction ... my goodness. People instantly choose a side and aren't afraid to pick fights with anyone who dare oppose them. It often turns into completely senseless, pointless arguing and takes away from what people should be discussing, which is the other 59 minutes and 59 seconds that took place last night. And yes, I get that this hit and subsequent suspension *should* be a talking point, but trust me when I tell you that *nobody* cares what anybody here thinks of the hit. ESPECIALLY Bruins or Canucks fans. Your opinions about this incident are completely invalidated by your partisanship. Period.

I sincerely hope the players can accept the ruling and get back to playing hockey. But I can't help but feel like the Bruins will find some way to pay Vancouver back for this. I hope I'm wrong.

I think the 4 game suspension is in line with other similar hits this year.

I hope Horton recovers soon, his presence will definitly be missed.

Good call by the NHL. Hate to say it but Vancouver wins the Rome/Horton trade off.

I hope Horton comes back healthy and symptoms free next season.

Whoever brought up the stretcher thing is an idiot, you can't seriously call that theatrics. Horton was in a different world after that hit but I guess your right give him the salts pick him up and drag him off, by far the dumbest comment I have ever read on SCF...Dirtbag hit, see ya next year Rome!

JHEYKID I don't think you understood what I said. I don't think he was faking or wasn't hurt, but he could have got up and skated off after a few minutes. I'm not saying anything against Horton, he wasn't allowed to get up. The stretcher was unnecessary theatrics on the part of the Bruins staff. I'm all for safety first, but I don't think that's why it was brought out. Obviously I wish Horton the best. I actually wish he was able to play because the Bruins won't be in top form without him, he's one of their best players. I also love the "reports" that he was moving all his extremities in the hospital. He was doing that on the ice.

Good on you for namecalling, though. I think the "KID" in your name is bang on.

JHEYKID should have said the comment was idiotic because it was. Perhaps not the person making the comment. How can you say you are all for "safety first" and then question the presence of a stretcher? I am sure you have been watching hockey long enough to know it is standard procedure to immobilize the neck after an incident of this nature. The reactions, movements and judgements of the injured (concussed) player on the ice should not be considered when practicing "safety first".

When practicing safety first, everyone should leave the ice on a stretcher.
When practicing safety first, the game shouldn't even be played.

JHEYKID: The fact you said this:
You have biased oppinions on literally everything to do with the Canucks.

proves to me you don't get what I'm saying. It has nothing to do with what team. I'd say the same if it was Boston/Montreal or Toronto/Anaheim.I have no problem with the call on the ice and I'm not surprised in the least at the suspension and length thereof. All that is pretty much right in my opinion. How is that biased?

Really??? That's the best response you can come up with?

Why did I even bother to try?
