The NHL is Simply Too Long!

When the Boston Bruins host the Vancouver Canucks on Monday, June 13th, 2011 in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, it will mark the 2010-11 NHL season has last 9 months (270 days) for both clubs. In contrast, the 2010-11 NBA will have started after the NHL and ended BEFORE the NHL.

This fact begs the question of why? Why is the NHL still playing after the NBA has concluded their season? The NBA starts their season about a month later that the NHL and is now able to finish their season before the NHL.

Though... I think we all can agree that we would rather watch hockey than Nascar...

That being said, the playoffs do kinda get old.

I have no problem with condensing the schedule so that there aren't these ridiculous 5-day layoffs for some teams during the regular season. There won't be any way the League's BoG approves of a shorter schedule, but it certainly couldn't hurt to slice a couple weeks out of the timetable.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

there is plenty of time to condense the timetable of the schedule while having 0 impact to the way the schedule is current scheduled

If the Canucks weren't still involved I would have stopped caring at about round 2. Hockey in June is ridiculous.

I disagree. I love the sport of hockey, and the more of it to watch is more enjoyment and variety than the everyday baseball games.
