Labor negotiators plan first post-NBA lockout talks
Representatives of the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association will meet next week in New York for the first post-lockout negotiating session, sources confirmed to NBA.com Wednesday.
The two sides have not met since June 30, the date that the last collective bargaining agreement expired. The date and time of next week's meeting was not confirmed, although various outlets were reporting that it could be as soon as Monday. The Web site SBNation.com carried a report Tuesday that a bargaining session would be held in the first two weeks of August.

Derek Fisher: Lockout's been quiet
LOS ANGELES -- The NBA lockout will have reached a full month on Monday when representatives from the owners and players union will officially resume negotiations in New York City.
"It's been long, but it's been weirdly quiet," said NBA Players Association president Derek Fisher on Friday, speaking at his youth basketball academy in downtown Los Angeles. "To push as hard as we did in the month of June to see if we could get a deal done prior to July 1, it's essentially been crickets since then."

NBA files federal lawsuit against players
Trying to head off the chance of an antitrust lawsuit from the NBA Players Association, the league went ahead and beat the union to court.
The NBA filed two claims against the NBPA on Tuesday -- an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board and a lawsuit in federal district court in New York.
The NBA accused the players of being uncooperative in negotiations toward a new collective bargaining agreement by making "more than two dozen" threats to dissolve their union and sue the league under antitrust laws to secure more favorable terms in a new CBA.

The Lockout just keeps getting uglier for the NBA! I hope they get this thing worked out by at least the end of September so none of the regular season is missed!

Billy Hunter doubts entire '11-12 season
Players Association executive director Billy Hunter says the 2011-12 NBA season will likely be canceled entirely because the commissioner's negotiating leeway is in danger of being undermined by a group of hard-line owners.
"The circumstances have changed among [David Stern's] constituency," Hunter told a group of lawyers Wednesday, as quoted in the Baltimore Sun.
"In the last six or seven years, there is a new group of owners to come in who paid a premium for their franchises, and what they're doing is kind of holding his feet to the fire."
Hunter told an American Bar Association conference that if he "had to bet on it", he would wager that there will be no NBA season.

Ya, the players are showing how much they care about playing in America playing over seas for millions of dollars...typical athletes crying about millions of dollars when they play sports for a living...i personally hope the NBA would just not be around so all these "basketball" players can move over seas...
Just my 2 pennies...

Union shows members what NBA wants
NEW YORK -- Negotiators for NBA owners and players will likely meet again next week. And the league will have to offer something different to interest the players.
The union has been holding regional meetings, informing its members just how harsh it believes the owners' proposal is for a new collective bargaining agreement. The league is seeking significant changes to the salary structure as a way to eliminate its losses, which it says totaled $300 million last season.

NEW YORK -- David Stern wants progress in the NBA's collective bargaining talks by Labor Day. He may get his wish.
Officials from the league and players' association will meet again next week, people with knowledge of the plans told The Associated Press on Thursday. It will be only the second session involving leaders from both sides since the lockout started July 1.
