Whats your Profession????

Its crazy we all trade with each other but we don't know much about each other, so I was just curious to know what professions people do for a living think it would be cool to know even if you are in school what are you majoring in?


Me I used to be a Bartender/Server thats how I met my wife then I became a fulltime structural fire fighter/emt in Arizona and then got into wildland fire during the summer with US Forest Service and worked on fishing boats in Alaska during the winter seasons, did that for about 10 years and the last 7 years I have been working in oil fields for a large oil and gas exploration company! My job is taking care of all surface equipment and ensuring the oil stays flowing from the well to the tank batteries to the refineries......Anyways thats my job in a nut shell.......

Currently Manufacturing Engineer for a medical equipment company. Have also been QC manager, service manager, programmer, and worked the assembly line there.

I am a teacher. Currently teaching high school Alternative Education. In other words, I am the last-chance stop for a kid before they get expelled.

My degree is in Early/Middle Education with a specialization in Secondary English/Language Arts. I hope to start working on my Master's Degree this fall and eventually want to teach literature and writing at the college level.

Before this I was a Technology Support Specialist for the county that I now teach in. Before that I was a petroleum marketing manager.

Great thread. A similar one was on the P&R forum recently. It's always cool to get some background perspective on the people here, especially those whom we might come into contact regularly through trades or other posts.

Anyway, I'm studying to be a middle school or high school teacher (English; certification will encompass both levels). I've previously worked as a paralegal and receptionist. Though those jobs didn't work out long term, they taught some valuable lessons and helped me pay in part for my graduate school track to teaching (the main lesson was that I am better suited for jobs that require more abstract, conceptual thought and planning rather than concrete, rote work).
