SCF Features Turned off - Search, Who is Online, etc

In the past week SCF has been targeted by hackers. I usually don't post this to the members because it gives recognition to the hackers and they thrive on that. But at this point I feel the SCF members need to know why I must turn off a few features to prevent SCF from being taken down again.

I've had to turn off:

• All search features like My Posts/My Threads and regular search.
• Who is Online on the main forum - While it is nice to know who is on SCF, it is server intensive and if hackers reload the front page over and over it can cause issues.
• Forum Jump

These features are possible exploits for hackers because they cause a lot of stress on the server.

I apologize for the down time for the past few days and for these features being turned off. I will work hard on figuring out a good way to keep hackers away from SCF while maintaining all the features SCF members love.

I do not know if cost would be an issue for an upgrade or something to prevent things list this from happening...but could we start some type of fund drive to help pay for it if its a viable option to help the site? I know I have both sold and traded on here which has helped grow my collection not to mention the knowledge I have gained and the trading partners and friends I have made. For example, I know I was paying $15 a year for less TTM info than I was getting on here for free. I just figure there are alot of us who profit from this site ( not just dollars and cents but in many other ways) and if we can help "give back" a little, we would all profit from it.. Hopefully I am not out of line to suggest such a thing, but its just an idea.

I dont think a new server is the issue since i recall Mike got a new server last year when all the people from beckett started coming here..
