Sending/trading overseas

Seems like many traders from the U.S. or wherever are not aware of how much it costs to send to different parts of the world. Some don't trade overseas because they are afraid of losing mail or paying too much on postage.

Shady countries will have shady mail pratices.
For example, put myself here, I am in Hong Kong for work at the moment. Posting to the U.S. or Europe for me is the same price everytime I head to the mail room, MAX $2.50 USD without registration. Maybe I pay another 2 bucks if I register the package but it takes wayy longer. So far, no problems.

On the other hand, when you mail to a place like Zaire, or even China, then it does have a chance of being stolen. Plus in those countries, even if you send something registered, they don't care a lick about how much you paid.

Sending to here (asia) costs max 3-4 bucks via first class international from any USPS outlet. It will never go over 5 unless you are shipping a big lot. Everything is by weighing at the post office just the same if you would send domestically.

Sending to Europe should be the same thing.

It is whether you want to take the risk or not.

But be warned, any post office that charges you over 5 dollars for one card to be sent WITHOUT registration is ripping you off.

It will only cost a lot if you send overseas with a DC#.

On the other hand, those who don't trade overseas because of ignorant issues, well, what can you do right?

I know this is kinda irrelevant but perhaps it helps those relieve any doubts about trading with people that live outside the U.S., Canada or wherever you may be.

Great post, Adrian. I can say that I was a little leary about trading overseas because of stories I've read, but I've had some of my best trades with members who live overseas, and have never had a single problem with a trade outside of North America...shipping does take longer, but it's not too bad, especially if you really want the card. And shipping isn't gobs more - I've never paid more than $4 for postage to mail overseas, and I've mailed to Australia multiple times, France, Belgium, Hong Kong, Norway, and probably another country or two that I can't remember right off hand.

I've heard horror stories but never had any bad luck myself.
Europe, Phillipines, Australia, Canada...no problems!

I've had numerous trades overseas in in many different countries around the world...Just this week alone i have received packages from Belgium, Australia, and Canada....Sure, everybody here's horror stories but I've heard similar stories ofthings being shipped here in the states...There are some truly hardcore collectors all over the world and it would be a shame not take interact and trade with as many as possible

But yeah, some countries are shady.. Italy in particular.. IF you are tading with someone in Italy. please be aware, because the Italian postoffice is VERY VERY careless with packages..

From sweden to USA or anywhere outside of Europe for that matter sending one to five cards is like $4 shipping, up to 20g its $2 from 20g to 100g its $4 etc.. So i rarely do one card deals because i often end up paying more for shipping then for the actual card..

Great post. I've had a bad experience overseas a couple times out of dozens of transactions. Ebay refunded me both times. I just sold a card to a collector in Germany. It cost me $3.00 for regular airmail.

And it's a shame that some US sellers take both 10 and up in shipping costs.. i mean, most cards i get from the US costs 1-3 bucks TOPPS ! not more .. i think Ebay sellers seriously need to take a look on how much shipping is .. I get angry when people overcharge and say "my postoffice have those prices" etc.. MAD!!!! haha

Postage from Australia to the states or anywhere else in the world is usually $5aus but registered is when it gets pricy. Usually $20-22aus
