    J.S. Giguere a Maple Leaf

Wow, Burke took the Flames to the cleaners on this deal. The Toronto Star also has Giguere for Toskala.

    J.S. Giguere a Maple Leaf

Toronto Star is reporting that the Maple Leafs have acquired J.S. Giguere and a 1st round pick for Vesa Toskala. Deal is apparently pending while Giguere decides whether to waive his no-trade clause.

It's a salary dump for the Ducks as Giguere was going to make *edit* $7M next year to be the back up to Hiller (who will be making $4.5M starting next year) - Toskala's not cheap at $4M but he's less than 7 and is UFA at the end of the year.

I'm reading that Toronto might be sending a prospect to the Ducks as well...which makes sense if we land a 1st.

exactly, Anh needed to find some team to take Giggys salary. Same reason the Hawks would have trouble tradeing Huet or Campbell.
