Low #'d Topps Finest GOLD Xfractor only 1.5X ???
I just picked up a Deron Williams 05-06 Topps Finest Gold Xfractor RC AUTO #'d /39.
I thought I got it for a great deal until I checked my Beckett.
They are saying that this card is only 1.5X more valuable than the standard version #'d /349?
That seems crazy to me, if that is the case. I hope Im reading my book wrong!
If not, can somebody explain why this card is NOT more valuable?
THANKS

An auto is an auto in my book. It is still his signature, that is really the only thing it could be.

Beckett is just a guide - that is why it is called the Beckett price guide. Some people take it too literally, like the Bible.
It seems a little low especially considering the multipliers they put on some other sets but not that far off. It also depends on the set. Some sets are more in demand than others so the multipliers might be higher than on other sets. Finest produces so many parallel versions that they may actually be doing the opposite of what they are intending - lowering the value of the parallel sets compared to what they should or would be.
You can try checking completed auctions to see what the cards are actually selling for versus the other versions.Last edited by wrafman; 02-10-2010 at 02:00 PM.

Yeah I follow Beckett as much as follow the Bible
LOL
No but seriously, it doesnt make sense how they break down the multipliers.
All the other Gold Xfractors are 2-3X, but they list a few as only being 1.5X.
Unfortunately Deron Williams is in that group.
I just wonder if the players in that group were easier to get? Still seems odd since they only made 39 of them.

agreed.
Also, if you do go by beckett a lot, probably a good idea to check the guide before making the purchase

If you would have read the previous posts, I dont really go by Beckett all the time or "a lot."
When checking completed listings on ebay, often times they are no cards sold recently like the one Im looking for. Which was the case.
Therefore I resorted to my "GUIDE."
So if ebay and your guide fails you, where does one turn to?

not trying to get in a fight man, just saying that you should do research before any purchase. i think its a nice card and probly better than 1.5x. id check ebay for the normal version and see what that went for, and compare it to what you paid for your version. if they are fairly close youve clearly made a good deal

Base 349
Refractors 229
X-Fractors 169
Refractors Red 199
X-Fractor Red 149
Refractors Green 99
X-Fractor Green 79
Refractrs Gold 59
X-Fractors Gold 39
Refractor Black 19
X-Fractors Black 9
Total: 1399
#1399 RC Auto total. Only Deron Williams PC collector will go for "rainbow". Most people just want 1 Deron Williams regardless purple, green, rainbow or whatever. It is all Topps selling point. Instead of saying 1399 RC auto in the box, they said 349 now. It makes people think DWilliams are "rare". Really.. 1399 and not counting 1 of 1.... WAY too many stickers...

Thanks Xavieronly1, now it will be easier for me to compile my list for the rainbow set!
I will try to go for it, have 2 out of the 11. Should be easy to obtain now that I know they aren't very valuable by Beckett standards.
Also agreed, 1399 RC AUTOs from one set is way to many.

I know buddy not trying to fight, just explain my situation.
I paid about $10-15 more than what a base version #'d/349 sales for.
Im not to upset about what I paid.
More upset at the reasoning behind the multipliers.
If a card is 10X more rare then the regular version shouldnt the value reflect that???
