Paypal Gift Payments......
Whats with people only accepting PP gift payments? Do people not realize they are committing fraud and theft or do they just not care? How long do people think this will last before paypal gets rid of gift payments then raises fees to make up for the $ lost from the abuse of gift payments.... then we are all really screwed. Fees are part of life get over it and lets make sure my paypal fees stay minimal. Why not just charge enough to cover the fees? That way its all good and LEGAL.... just a thought...

I agree 100%. I will not pay or accept paypal gift anymore. I have heard, although I cannot confirm, that paypal accounts can be suspended for abuse of the gift option. I for one am not going to lose my account to save a couple dimes.

I agree it shouldnt be abused and ppl that 'only' accept gift are just trying to scam the system but on the other hand, if have a 200 card that I need 200 for I want the full 200 not 187, and asking 213 maybe to steep..

That $13 is the price of doing business. Taking a paypal payment is essentially the same as being able to accept credit cards. You know everytime a business accepts your credit card they have to pay a fee. Paypal whether the fees high or not, provides a service to you, therefore they should be paid for services provided.

your right but I dont believe my fee should fluctuate from how much Im recieving. a standard rate past a certain amount would make more sense. look at ebay fees, I had an item listed for 350 and before I listed it said if my item sells BIN the fee would be 30, plus PP fees...completely turned me off from accepting an offer lower than 330, which I would gladly sell for 300 on here.

Why would one be committing fraud if they are not making money. Example I just made a deal to send 5 booklets of U.S. stamps which cost $44. I suggested they send it paypal gift and I would send in a bubblemailer which cost about $2.
I understand your thought if folks are circumventing the fees to make more money than the original sale. My question is if you wish to send something as a gift to a friend it a nice option. I think many folks should not do it as do you truly know who they are dealing with and gift means no protection via paypal. Many, will learn their lessons.
My question to you would be why was Gift Payment created then? If they created the service why should we not use it when applicable?

It really isnt fraud... When you are using the gift option you do not get protection which is essentially what you are paying paypal for when sending a regular payment... Also you will still be charged for sending a gift through a CC so it isnt like Paypal is losing money on it.

Yep, Mitch got it. If you gift a payment you are releasing your right to file a claim with Paypal and take their time.

How would it be fraud? How would "circumventing fees" mean a seller makes more than the original sale, since without fees it would simply amount to the initial sale price? Or am I missing something in that argument?
I don't see the big deal against PayPal gift, except for the extreme cases people get caught up with. The assumption I say this under is that there is enough trust in place for someone to be willing to send a gift payment, in which case there really isn't a substantial beef I could see someone having.
If you trust someone enough to send as a gift, then I don't see the problem.
