If PP sees this as stealing, don't you think they would take that option away!!!!

With how people are abusing it I think they will soon. Paypal tries to do somethng nice by letting people send monetary gifts for free and people immediatly start abusing it and worse people sit there and try and justify it. America just sinks lower and lower into the gutter.

It is still going to be my problem when my fees get raised because of the actions of other people and I dont need my fees raised because people are cheap and want to save a few cents....

Not sure what your definition of a few cents is....

Fee per transaction is 2.9% + $0.30 USD.

Paypal should eliminate the 30 cent fee. They are already making a killing off ebay purchases since ebay only allows paypal payments now.

If PayPal cared about "the abuse of the gift option" they would have done something a long time ago - it isn't like the no-it-all guy on here defending them is the first to notice it. If they cared about people using it for business and not actual "gifts," they would have placed a sending limit or fee on the gift option. It doesn't take a genius to know that people know there are no fees with the gift option, and many will likely use it for "business" purposes.

PayPal knows exactly what they are facilitating with the gift option. They just don't care because they take in everything from eBay. I doubt the trend of using the gift option in the hobby of online trading/selling is ever going to make a dent.

And really, if we're having this debate, it means people are already using PayPal, which means PayPal (and eBay) has done its job. Not everyone is going to send as a gift every time, which is what it would take from a large population of users for PayPal to do anything about it.

THis MAY be the funnies thing I have read in a LONG time.

Paypal isn't trying to be nice. Paypal doesn't have nice in the vocabulary

Are you gullible or just not that bright. I hope it is the former.

Paypal is doing this for one reason only. To increase traffic on their site.

I would suggest that the research they put into this will show that a large % of this "gift" money will stay in the E-universe and they will get a cut of it eventually.

I know the vast amount of money I send my daughter she spends on Ebay and local sites that take paypal. Paypal is now making $$ they would not have made before.

There is NOTHING illegal about this and as I said before anyone who uses to send payment as a gift is a moron, unless they have explicit trust whit the person with whom they are dealing.

That $13 is the price of doing business. Taking a paypal payment is essentially the same as being able to accept credit cards. You know everytime a business accepts your credit card they have to pay a fee. Paypal whether the fees high or not, provides a service to you, therefore they should be paid for services provided.

on that note did you know that if you have a capital one rewards checking account and swipe your card and select debit you only get (5pts) but if you choose credit you get (10pts)...only because when you select credit capital one makes money off the transaction
