Collecting on different budgets.
Ok so mini rant.... I recently had someone tell me (no names) that I am nuts for spending x amount on certain cards in my collection. I've heard it before, especially with guys/gals that break cases of the cup or have just insane player PC's and go after everything they can find for 1 particular player or team. Everyone has a different budget and different reasons for collecting who the collect, why do some feel the need for voicing there opininion so loudly over what others do with their collection and money. I know a lot of you have heard this before, just seems to be poping up a bit more as of late. OK end rant....LOL (BTW) Just so it's out there the member who sparked this seems like a great person, just no need for the snide remarks IMO

Just don't take opinion personal, I don't. Their will always be person to tell you that you should not do this or that, but in the end , it's your decision and you are the person that live with your decisions. Take 100 person and a percentage will always disagree, that is how life is. Just learn to not take comment on the personal side and all will be fine.
Human will always complain, argue and disagree, it's the worldwide number one sport to complain and argue. What I do is to let it in by one ear and let it out by the other ear, et voilà, no pain to handle something you let go...

I hear it to a lot. People can't believe how much i will spend to get cards for my PC. If I need the cards I'm willing to go above BV if thats what it takes to add it. I hear it all the time why I am spending money on xplayers like LaFontaine and not buying Crosbys, Ovis, etc. I can care less what they think and you should too. I never knock any persons PC no matter who they collect. (even Ranger fans)

You probably are nuts for spending X amount on your collection... but aren't we all?!! Some people shouldn't be voicing their opinion on what you can or can't buy or how much you should spend. It's your decision and if that's what you want to do, that's your deal.
Keep going with the collection and while the majority of the people on SCF are great, you will get the odd one that is a know-it-all or thinks they should be saying it like it is.
Good luck!!

I feel this is the proper place to remind people to be respectful in any responses you have to people offering a trade. If you don't like the offer say NO THANKS. I've read a couple of posts on some threads lately where they try to make the person look like a complete idiot with their down talking and sarcastic comments. When it comes to trading and collecting with a budget, everyone is different. BUT, we're all in a hobby that is supposed to be enjoyable and a common thread between us all. Stop treating people differently because their ideas/offers/budgets are different then your own. Most of the rude comments I've seen have come from fairly new traders. In some cases I've held myself back from responding on the threads as to how big of jerks they're being. I think the MOD's should start issuing warnings about rude comments and three strikes you're gone. I for one do not like to see or hear people who think they're better than I am because they have a bigger collection/more money/different ideas of a good deal in the cocky, arrogant tone that's becoming too common amongst traders.

I hear ya.
Certainly I've been told by both friends and family that I'm nuts for how much I spend on this hobby :) They're probably, at least, a little bit correct.
Really though, regardless if you're a 12 year old spending his allowance on a few packs..... or a 45 year old with a lot of disposable income buying high end singles...... or anywhere in between..... what does it matter? Spend what you're comfortable spending.

I usually do the in one ear out the other like Luc said, but maybe somone doesnt see it from the perspective that we're all talking about. Hopfully this gets seen a bit and helps some people out. Thanks for the posts all, and I keep in mind this is a GREAT place to enjoy the hobby 99% of the time and I hope you all do too!

Try talking to anyone who doesn't collect cards and tell them how much you spend, you'll probably have worse comments than someone that's in the hobby. Doesn't matter to me, if I have the extra income why not do something I enjoy with it? I mean in long term value, most of it you'll get back out of it if you ever decide to sell your collection. They are an investment just like anything else. I'll probably get more out of my cards than if I just sat it in a savings account getting interest.

Wow, you completely read my mind. I too have seen those comments, and find them terrible. I wouldnt say im a seasoned trader here, nor am I a new trader, but i still dont think anyone needs to use those kind of tones. Im not going to name anyone, but ive seen threads where cards have been offered as a part of a sale to see if there is any interest, and the offer has basically been slapped back in the persons face. So its not what you looking for, say no thanks, and move on. No need to make fun of another for such material reasons...
