Mavericks on a roll; win 11th straight

I got to see the last two quarters of their win against the Bulls tonight. They are really thriving since the trade deadline. Getting Caron Butler in particular and getting rid of Josh Howard has done wonders for improving team chemistry. An added bonus is the emergence of rookie Rodrigue Beaubois, who has stunning moves on offense and plays like he's 6'6" instead of 6'0". They've overtaken Denver and Utah in the standings recently and are now second in the West.

The Mavericks have a hell of a lineup/rotation. If I'm the Lakers, and I'm worried about anyone in the West, it's Dallas not Denver.

Dont' forget Brendan Haywood, who has been a beast in the middle for the Mavs. And all they had to give up to the Wizards was a pothead who ain't even playing anymore.

Yeah, Brendan Haywood is playing better than Dampier was back when Damp was healthy.

When the Butler/Howard trade happened, I said that this instantly makes Dallas one of the best teams in the west instead of a middle-of-the-road team, and I got alot of flack for saying that...well, they've since proven me true...they only trail the Lakers by 4 games in the west, and they have the 4th best win percentage in the league (Cleveland, LA and Orlando all have better, but Orlando is barely better). They have not lost since acquiring Butler, and they've beaten some pretty good teams (Suns, Heat, Magic, Lakers, Hawks) over that stretch. Six of their next seven games are all against at or below .500 teams (Wolves, Nets, Knicks, Bulls, Hornets, Clippers), so we may see them approach a 20-game winning streak.

MAVS are on a roll. They should be able to keep this streak alive but its not as easy as it looks even though they're playing bad teams.... cause with terry injured and haywood having back issues it's not gonna be that easy. But if everyone plays like they have been playing they should be able to approach 20 WINS in a row

The Mavericks I would say is a team to watch going in to the Playoffs. Their pretty loaded. A healthy Mavericks can give the Lakers a real challenge in the West.

I think the Mavs have very strong playoff potential at this point. I was recently saying to people I was predicting a Nuggets-Cavaliers Finals for this year, but I actually think the Mavs have a good chance if they end up facing them in the playoffs. Like garnett_21 said above, since they have at/under .500 teams in their next stretch of games, it's very possible they could come right up next to the Lakers for the West. I think the only teams in the West they need to worry about are the Lakers and Nuggets, but the Mavs seem to be doing very well and I think could beat either of them in the playoffs.

I really like this Mavs team. They finally have some toughness, we all know Dirk wasnt haha, so now Dirk doesnt have to be. I like this team better than the one that went to the Finals.
