This is a better comparison, although I thought Jarhead was pretty weak. However, that is a much better comparison for the type of movie

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of Jarhead either...Hurt Locker was much, much better.

I can't comment on Precious since I never saw it but I'm glad Hurt Locker beat Avatar and Blind Side. Avatar had great visual effects but overall I thought it was just a slightly above average movie. Blind Side is a nice story but it is the type of cookie cutter easy to make movie that comes out all the time. Hurt Locker was much better overall than both IMO

I agree...and I'm definitely glad Up In the Air or A Serious Man didn't get it either. I liked A Serious Man, but not a great movie. The only one I would have preferred over Hurt Locker was Inglourious Basterds...I love that movie.

Well I guess when I first saw Hurt Locker, I was away and I went into it not knowing what it was about except it being about soldiers in Iraq. I kinda figured it wouldn't be a whole war, but I kinda expected more. It had a good point of view, I enjoyed the view of it being kinda like a reporter's camera I guess? But anyways I personally preferred Blind Side & Avatar. Inglorious Basterds was good too.

Has anyone here seen Law Abiding Citizen? Now that was a great thriller that didn't get much credit.
