Box office prices going up

I agree with OPT especially with big screens coming down and on demand netflix and so on. It's fun to go to the movies every once in a while, but lately there are very few movies that I "have" to go see at the theater. It's around $9.50-$10 here in Indy so every once in while it's good. I couldn't imagine having to take a handful of kids to the theater.

Although it's not really the theater causing the prices to go up. I believe they have to pay the production houses just about all of their box office take it I remember correctly. I think most of the money made is on consessions, which I rarely purchase.

Very true, they've gotten shorter and, for the most part, worse. There are 2-4 movies a year that I HAVE to see in a theater and that's it. With the crap Hollywood has been putting out the last few years, they should be dropping prices based on quality of product alone.

The length of movies I can't really fault them for, though...I think that has more to do with the audience. Most casual movie goers get mad now when there are setting/scene shots, extensive character development, anything that would be perceived as "slow." There has to be constant action, something always happening to keep them happy. I hate that...the setting/scenery is part of the art and story of a film, extensive character development is crucial for a quality story, it doesn't always have to be bang bang bang...but that's what most people want, so that's what Hollywood makes.
