A few things from recent maildays:

'66-67 Topps Jimmy Roberts. Corners actually OK for that set.

'60-61 Topps Leo Boivin. I hardly have any of these in this kind of shape.

And the cream of the crop - I can't believe I scored this one. '52-53 Parkhurst Gordie Howe:

    Thanks! I love that Howe.

I put this up in the Rocket thread, but might as well here, too.

Also - my '67-68 project now stands at 131/132, only missing #114 - Stan Mikita. There are also 11 left to upgrade, one of which is a checklist (blech).

Yes - they're all from the collection. I started collecting older cards in the early 1980s, back when it was possible to do that sort of thing on a budget. (My Orr RC cost me $25 in 1984.) I've had that Richard for more than 20 years.

I'm not sure what the most valuable would be overall - probably the Orr. Between the Richard above and the Howe, it's the Richard, I'd think.

As for the name, it came from a hockey board about 8 years ago. It was an old-style board where there was no control over user ids.

There was a particularly annoying troll who used to use "1967ers" while bashing Leaf fans. One of his favourite tricks was to take the id of other posters and write stupid comments in their name. I figured that to get even, I'd start posting thoughtful comments under his "1967ers" id. It has been my internet name ever since.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Tough to find a nicer PSA 5 than this one.

HELLO! Only one graded higher. There are 40 PSA 8's in the population.

This card rounds out my top 3. There are only 3 copies graded higher than this one.

One of the sweetest cards from my C56 set.

    And another.

    Before Orr, there was...

One of the 12 nicest copies in the world. And some damn fine coffee too.

Bought this raw at Expo in 2000.

Bought this from Joe Daley in 1988 when I was 16.

Only 4 graded higher. Stole this in an auction last year.

Another card I bought from Joe Daley in the late 80's and had graded a couple years ago.

    Holy cats! Those are great!

I'd love to have an Orr in that state. Mine would be about a 6.

I don't grade much. I'm much more likely to crack something to put it in a set.

I remember seeing a Hull in about that condition in the winter of 1990. It was going for $85, which I thought was nuts, What I didn't realize at the time was that that was the winter where things went crazy. In six months, that was a $600 card and it never stopped. Mine's rought and I'm dreading the eventual upgrade.

    Again - fantastic stuff.
