Well right now Howard's stats are the same if not better to what Mason put up last year...and Mason won the Calder.

Anyways. Like everyone else said, this is an award given for whoever is the most proficient during their first season, not who is the most valuable to their team. In that sense, I don't see how Duchene can beat Myers. Myers has a +/- with a +16, has a time on the ice average with 23:44 and also has 76 games played. Meanwhile, Duchene has a +/- of +3, has a time on ice average of 17.46, and has 76 games played just like Myers. Clearly Myers has been much more proficient as a defenseman than Duchene has been as a forward. Myers plays against the top lines every night and still manages to have a very good +/- and manage to stay healthy with the amount he plays every night. He deserves to win it in my opinion.
