Round 1, 2, or main event?

I just ordered my first main event box today, actually my first box ever of any ufc cards. But I had a question.

What do people generally consider as the better set to collect? The round 1, round 2, or main event cards?

I know a lot of people have said round 1 were the best. But I just want to hear different opinion on what advantages and disadvantages each one has.

    Thank alot guys.

Round 2 boxes are pretty cheap right now and I was thinking of snagging one or two of those too, but I want to see first if there is a reason they are cheap lol.

Round 1 is definitely the best set to collect because it's considerd to be the rookie cards by many in the hobby.

Round 2 is not cheap. It and Main Event have similar prices. It's just that Round 1 boxes are so high that makes it seem like Round 2 is cheap ;)

I personally think that Round 2 is the best bang for your buck. That's just me though.

Round 2 is cheaper than main event right now lol.

So what's good and bad about main event and round 2?

    Thanks for your input.

Round 2 is REALLY hit or miss. It is nice because it has alot of autographs available that Main Event doesn't, such as Rampage and BJ Penn. I like Round 2, but just as far as busting a couple boxes for fun, Main Event is nice. I've opened 9 boxes of Round 2 and about the same of Main Event. I'm done opening until a new product comes out, but that's just because I am close to all the insert sets in both and I have alot of dupes to trade for the few I do still need.

Yeah it's cheaper but it's not $500 so I'd say same ballpark ;)

Anyway the pros and cons are as follows:

Pros - boxes are not $500, cards seem to be in better condition than round 1, a lot of boxes have extra hits, sets are cheap and easy to put together, chances at red autos.

Cons - card values are not as much as Round 1, main event is more mass produced than round 1 or 2....

Feel free to add Gents ;)

Yea, Round 1 was so under-produced now they're harder to get. Like these other guys have said, most consider Round 1 to be the true rookie set so they carry a higher value & price.

I've only bought a couple boxes of Round 2 but I personally wasn't impressed. Like Bettis said, there are a few more autographs to get but I just wasn't overly happy with the look or the hits.

As far as box busting goes, I really liked Main Event. Few more packs, an extra hit or two and I think the cards are beautiful!

Ok so people are divided. I'm hearing from some that the main event cards look better, which is def a factor that could play in my decision. Also hearing that round 2 had more autos, so I might want to get some of that. But I think if anything I want complete sets of round 2 and main event. ANd not sure about round 1 but it seems like it would be very expensive :/

If you're going to buy boxes... Round 1 will DEFINITELY be expensive! You could probably buy 3 or 4 boxes of Round 2 or Main Event for every 1 box of Round 1. As far as looks, I think it's no contest... All of the Main Events look like refractors... they're very nice cards. The other 2 sets are darker, more plain looking cards... all depends on what you're into. Also, I only lacked 6 cards to make a base set of Main Event after only 1 box so if you're wanting to build sets, Main Event seems easier to do that...

When you say lack 6 cards, do you mean base cards? or including relics and autos and fight/gear mats, bloodlines?

Also do boxes come with a checklist? If not I know where to get them, just a question.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

I mean the base set. I opened 1 box of Main Event and got 144/150 base card set. The inserts are more rare, you'd have to open several boxes to complete them all. And yea, most of the time you'll get all 3 or 4 checklists in the box.
