I think you misunderstand me. I'm not saying nobody likes Tampa Bay, or that people in Tampa Bay don't love this hobby..... but has any player on Tampa Bay ever had mass appeal?
Vinny Lecavalier, for a while, was easily a Top 5 player in the NHL - but his cards have never sold like it.
Martin St. Louis, as I said in my first post, has achieved some pretty remarkable things in his career, but his cards sell for slightly above common prices.
I'm not suggesting that Stamkos' stuff isn't going to be worth much..... just don't count on buying up is Rookie Year stuff, and treating it like an investment. It's probably never going to sell higher than it's selling right now.
Again - This isn't swipe at Stamkos, Tampa Bay, or its fans. It's just the reality that to ever see a serious bump in card prices, the player needs to have mass appeal. When you consider that two of the best players, from the last 10 years, have been in Tampa Bay.... won a championship & personal awards...... and never saw this bump that the original poster asks about, I don't know how anyone could expect Stamkos to get one.

Precisely!
BV's are never really ever accurate. You have to watch ebay to get a true value of what his cards are worth.
I'm sorry but the value that comes from the "Blind Archer" that Beckett uses to set prices is their <trusted> standard, and rarely do they change it according to any market demand, unless they pay attention............ Oh wait! Pay attention, and Beckett. Did I use that in the same sentence? Sorry for the snafu.Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd

Great post. However, I will say there a chance he might buck that Tampa trend.
A lot will have to do with how Tampa drafts & shapes their team in the next few years.
They have Hedmen and they will have a good pick in the upcoming draft. If they re-shape their team and build much like Pitt, Chicago & LA did, they could have a very strong core to build around Stamkos. If that happens, then Tampa cards will get much the same interest you see happening for the team listed above that are not considered hockey-collecting driven teams.
That's a big IF considering it's Tampa, but it finally happened in LA. So who knows.

Folks, please keep in mind that posting Beckett values is against their TOS and SCF rules unless you're in the trading forum.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Although I agree with Tampa Bay players usually not having the highest hobby value; you also have to remember that Stamkos may not play for Tampa his entire career. If the time comes that he moves to a "hockey market" I imagine his value will go up.
That being said; I'm not much for treating a player's cards like an investment. You really can't count on things like that.

Unless you are planning on selling your collection, why would you want Stamkos' cards to go up
