I guess it is okay to randomly start a fight against the Wings (last time they played) Just because he lost. Or the time he didn't shake their hand. He isn't a Captain, he is just the best player so they made him one. He still needs to grow up. Just because you lose doesn't mean to cry about it. The whole Penguins have this issue. Starting fights after a loss, Matt Cooke, etc.

he shook hands but after he was able to celebrate his cup win
come on, you just won your first cup and all hell breaks loose and the last thing you think about is going to center ice to shake hands with the losing team
I recall the wings taking there time to sahake hands with the penguins in 2008.
anyways, just curious who is you fav player/team

I never understand why people are always complaining about him. What has he done wrong? Nothing. I hear people complaing that he isnt fan friendly simpley because he doesn't stop for hounds. He may be in a rush and doesnt want to get mobbed, for like 20 minutes. Or may not have time for everyone. He is only like 20 years old. IMO, I think people should just give him a break. He is only human just like the rest of us, and can only do so much.
My Opinion :)
Just what I think about when people r complaing bout him.

I couldn't agree more. I think that off ice, he really is a class act. Mario has trained him well. He's very well spoken and always knows the right thing to say. But on ice, he's got a LOT of growing up to do. You can talk about Ovie's cheap shots all you want but the only difference between Crosby and Ovechkin is that the league isn't afraid to punish Ovechkin. Crosby, though his cheap shots were different has still pulled some cheap shots. Just last season when he "had his first fight" for example. He attacked a guy who had his head down for a freaking faceoff who was totally unsuspecting and defenseless. I'm not sure you can get much dirtier than that. Did Crosby get suspended? No. Why? Because he's the NHL's little golden boy. It just makes me wanna puke that they won't suspend him for stuff like that. Like you said, does running around throwing cheap shots really make Crosby the better player?

Hold on "quikflipz"
Bolded #1)-There are a lot of Penguins fans who survived the era of Rico Fata, Kristof Oliwa, etc. I understand a lot who were bandwagon, but there are a lot who suffered through the bad times, and now are enjoying the good ones.
Bolded #2)-And, yes Ray Shero has mad the easy choices. But he is one of the best GM's in the league. Just look at what he used to get Marian Hossa, and even this year. What players he has brought in for a low price.
------
Now Andy. This isnt a Ovie vs Crosby thread, although you brought it up, so lets discuss. Crosby has removed his face guard to take another player, who didnt accept. But, he plays with passion. I quoted something you said..
What I am saying is that if Ovie takes a bad hit from someone, he will go after the guy and get revenge, like a hockey player should.
So what your saying is, you would rather have a 10 stride run at another player to potentially end a career. Etc, Gonchar last years playoffs. And many numerous other "edgy hits". Does he also play with passion, yes, but at the same time, shouldn't it be focused into like, scoring a goal to one up a team.
Now, for my own opinion. Crosby is the class of the NHL. He has stayed controlled, never gotten into any trouble. Does he have a touch of edge in him, you bet, but tell me one player who doesn't. He has mega-class outside of the rink, (I have met him, he has taken 30+ minutes to sign auto's outside of the practice rink). He is the best player in the game, who fuels the game from emotion. And, I do believe. Every captain has talked to the refs. Its the job of the captain.

I don't have a dog in the fight between OV and Sid--but I really don't see Sid having done anything out of the ordinary for a player in his position. Sure it makes for a great puff piece, but this would have absolutely no bearing on whether I like him or not.
Now if Sid had cared enough to run the thieving SOB down--that would be a good story. But he probably just whined to the police instead of doing it himself....and yes, that was just to goad the Siddites.

I can recall about 5 or 6 other things he has done in the last couple months that are about the same caliber of class. From autographed pictures being stolen to other things that were signed by him being taken. I think it is sorta getting a little out of control now since he is being such a good sport about it. I mean ever since he was on TV for doing something special for this one guy he has been doing it for more and more people...That reminds me.....I had an autographed game used stick signed by Sid that was never given back to me after he used it...?????

EXACTLY! Ovy is a much dirtier player than Crosby. And Crosby does what a normal Captain will do when they feel a bad call has been made by the ref. It just so happens that it's Crosby and not Shane Doan or something. It's no different when LBJ, Kobe, and Jordan complain to the refs - and no one calls them classless on the floor.
