Its really time for a rebuild. It hasn't worked and you're about to lose your best player in Martin Brodeur. I say they just wheel him off and all the vets and stockpile picks and young talent. Because once Marty goes...they're doomed. Why not at least get assets out of it?

    No.

Is it just me or has New Jersey changed their playing style since the acquisition of Kovalchuk? It seems they are trying to cater to is abilities and are not enforcing their usual system. The guy is a dynamic talent, but it almost looks like they have adapted to him as opposed to the opposite.

I said from day one that Kovalchuk will be the end of the devils.

    devils vs flyers

my thoughts on this is that even brodeur isn't capable anymore of winning a series or cup without a lot of help from the rest of the devils
and boucher has proven many critics wrong by not letting brodeur outplay him in net
however I think that a lot of the credit for the flyers resurgence is due to their d-man who have outplayed the devils d by a country mile
jeff carter and gagne are out tonight so the devils have a chance to get back into the series but I think the flyers hold the hammer and richards leadership and strong play of other flyers will carry them into the next round

I've been pretty shocked to see the Flyers take such a quick stranglehold on this series. If my memory serves, maybe 1 person in our office pool (16 players) picked Philly to win this series. Even though the recent years haven't been the greatest, there's that mystique around Martin Brodeur that just prevents a lot of people from betting against him. It's a great legacy to have, but wow if the Devils are the first team knocked out of the playoffs, it certainly opens up some questions.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
