LA Kings Fans - Let's play GM
Ok, now that the season is officially over it's time to start thinking about next year. There are many decisions that this team needs to make over the next few months with the draft and pending RFA's and UFA's as well as potentially re-signing players with contracts coming up soon.
So, I thought we could start off with our own RFA's. Here's the list of who is an RFA and what they made last year...
Richardson - $587,500
Elkins - $803,100
Parse - $550,000
Lewis - $855,000
Cliche - $850,000
Clune - $625,000
Bagnall - $605,000
Gauthier - $525,000
My take is as follows...
Definitely sign Richardson. He's worth $1M-$1.5M/year.
I'd be ok with re-signing Parse and Clune to one-year deals with slight raises.
I'd be ok with re-signing Elkins, Cliche and Lewis for the same amount but wouldn't give either raises.
I'd let Gauthier walk.
I don't know enough about Bagnall to have an opinion - I should look him up.

Okay here we go.
Richardson - I love the dude but he really is expandable. I want him to stay and I really think he will but no tears shed if he's gone
Elkins - sign and send to Manch
Parse - bye bye. You were one of the most inconsistent players. We don't need you
Lewis - BUST! bye bye mr. worthless
Chiche - don't care
Clune - keep and keep on roster and previously stated, swap him and Westy in on 4th line LW duty depending on the other teams roster
Bagnall - bye
Gauthier - bye
Summer wish list:
All real kings fans drive to Jones place in LA and personally remove him from our state. Or send him to the Ducks.
Get rid of OD. Totally worthless
Sign a REAL defenseman to play with JMFJ. Seriously I'd rather have Volchenkov than Kovalchuk. Dude is a BEAST and would probably mean more to the team than Kovie.
Trade Quick and sign a veteran to back up Bernier.
Trade the 1st round pick up to draft EL NINOOOOOO aka Nino Niederreiter
Do all that and I will NEVER mutter anything negative towards Deano again

Justin Williams R $3,500,000 - Under Contract until 2011
If i am GM, I would work out something for Draft day - Kings fans want a bona fide scorer....no question....no better way than to make some magic happen on Draft day in Los Angeles. Kings are probably looking at around 20th pick in the first round......
Will have to see what option they have when the playoffs are over.....before I can say who to go forLast edited by CSSports; 04-26-2010 at 10:56 PM.

oh chris....cmon man
www.nhlnumbers.com
I know i've thrown that site out here a million times. It's great!
I also expect Ersberg to be traded at the draft for a pick and if he isn't, he will be traded during training camp or just after it once Bernier for sure makes the team

I'd be happy to see Quick end up in Copper & Blue. Take Nikki for your Vetern Backup.

Seriously. I'd encourage Edmonton to find another asset to add to the deal. How 'bout all three of our goalies?

If I were DL and I got a call offering the 3 oil goalies for Quick, I laugh and hang up. Theres nothing we want from you unless its the #1 pick.
I don't know what DL would take to get Quick but it would have to be a pretty decent deal

Don't laugh and hang up. Respond with something like "Sure... want us to toss Anze Kopitar in too?"
Then laugh and hang up.
In all seriousness, obviously a trade like that would never work. I just happen to hate all of our goalies, and really like Quick. If he really was available - and I can't imagine he will be - I hope Tambo would be checking in to see what it would take.

Kinda weird that a lot of goalies that are all stars, are or were in a slump. Such as Luongo, Quick, Price, Steve Maosn.
What I would do, is trade Quick for Steve Mason. Why? Because I think both goalies need a different team to play for. I think each goalie would fit in fine. Just my opinion. I know some people might disagree with me, but I just have a feeling that each goalie would be better off.

I think you are crazy for giving up on Quick after one season, but hey, more power to you. If you really think Bernier is the answer, send Quick and Simmonds to the Blackhawks for Huet and Sharp. You get a veteran backup for your untested goalie that everyone is so high on, and you get more scoring and veteran leadership up front with Sharp. What say you.
