We're not going to trade for a star rental player period. I just don't think DL would ever do that unless hes 1000000% sure they would win the cup with the new guy

if they trade for him at the start of the season then it's not really a rental. i don't think he'd trade for a star for 6 weeks, but i think he'll do it for an entire season. and if it's a RFA like Carter then it makes even more sense.
i think the team has gotten to the point where there are more quality young players in the organization than there is room in the NHL. it used to be that Manchester was filled with so-so players that wouldn't even get a shot at the NHL, and if they did, they shouldn't have. now, there are plenty of strong prospects in the organization and we can't keep them all.
so let's trade a few of them (not the guys like schenn, bernier, loktionov, etc.) for guys that can help us win. especially if we're not ready to call up Schenn, Loktionov, Hickey, Clifford, etc., give them another year to develop and move guys that aren't the higher end prospects for guys that other teams can't afford.
why not see if Burke will take Moller and a pick for Kaberle. is Moller really going to be a top 6 guy for us? he doesn't really fit TM's philosophy as a 3rd or 4th liner. he's not great defensively and he doesn't bring a lot of grit. he's a small, scoring type that i don't think fits well here.
i'd rather have Kaberle play with Johnson for a year and give this team a chance to make a long run next year plus help guys like Johnson and Doughty get even better. and by the following year Hickey will be ready to take the spot he leaves.
or what about St. Louis? i'd love to have him on the top line with Kopitar and Smyth. or Langenbrunner to play the left side with stoll and brown. or even Brunnette to play the same place and improve our 2nd power play.
it won't take a ton to get a guy like Langenbruner or Brunnette. they have playoff experience, help on the power play and leadership plus the ability to score big goals.
i like that much better than spending $3-$4M/year on a guy like Volchenkov and then we can't re-sign Simmonds or Johnson because we killed our cap on Volchenkov.

I have to agree Ersy will be traded....and for cheap. As long as he doesn't go to the Maple Laughs or Les Hacks I'm good, but if he does.......well......I have a fire pit in my backyard.

for those that didn't see, Jonathan Bernier shut out Worcester tonight and Manchester took a 2-1 series lead in the 2nd round of the AHL Playoffs.
i have absolutely no doubt in my mind the Kings would still be playing had Bernier played instead of Quick against Vancouver.
it's not a slight on Vancouver as they played well - but goaltending was the difference and frankly Luongo didn't play well until the last couple of games of the series.

I'm now 100% behind Bernier. Instead of wanting him traded, I want Quick traded. Not this year though. Trade Quick in the final year of his contract and get a good return on him.
Is this season over left? theres not a team left I like and I'm excited for our team next year.
