    Beckett a joke

Has anyone else who buys beckett online subscriptions noticed the new feature on new release pricing? What a joke , we pay for the price guides and they give us a sneak peak at the pricing- but now for and extra $4.99 you can get Playoff contenders pricing and for $1.99 you can get Ultimate Football. I guess they need to get that extra $. Talk about Damn Greed.

I hate that it costs $3.99 for 1 sport. Thats the same cost I believe as the actual magazine and they dont have any printing costs or article issues. But hay they own the card pricing industry so I guess they can charge whatever they feel like.

Beckett is a joke all the way around. They really are losing out on their "importance" to the hobby. Ebay seems to have as much or possibly more influence on the hobby then Beckett. Oh yeah, and their message board is stupid, and their mod's are really stupid! I got banned for having the sign in name "Beckett Jail Mod" then i got banned again for posting a single pack break of '89 Proset. I guess the "power" went to their heads.

Beckett is a tool of the Sports card industry.

When is the last time anyone was able to buy or sell a card for anywhere near its beckett price? Beckett prices the cards hi, IMO, so the card companies can justify charging over $100 for a box of cards. As far as I am concerned most people only get what they paid for in 1 out of 10 boxes. Seriously how much is an autograph card of IROD really worth. The book will put it at $50, but you will never get that.

I only use beckett on a limited basis now, for trading only. The prices are unrealistic.

The thing I have hated most about beckett is the introduction of graded cards. If beckett would not have jumped on the bandwagon to make an extra buck nobody would care about card grading. And because of it almost every griffy and bond rookie is graded now. So if I wanted to pick 1 up I would usually pay about $10 for the card. With grading I now have to spend 2,3,4 or more times the book value. I know that alot of you dont agree with me on this but I think im intitled to my own worthless opinion.

DT, the retail price is $4.99 for an actual copy of Beckett. Saw you mentioned that above.

What a joke that they are charging extra for the online "early" pricing now. They are going out of their way to make themselves less and less useful to the hobby.

I used to buy the Beckett on-line pricing, but don't anymore. Do you guys use the "my collection" part of Beckett? If you do you can add a collection name say "baseball cards". Than add all the cards you want in there. It will give you a total BV at the top. If you want to find the BV of one card, create another collection name and move the card over. Your total BV decreases giving you the book value of the card you moved. Just a little way around buying the PG. Thanks, Roger

This early pricing is a joke.

However, the "low" beckett price seems to be a fantastic indicator of what you can actually sell a card for, IMO.
