Happened to me here with a trade. A Crosby Captain's Calling that i needed for my set. Loose in a bubble mailer, without ANY protection. The card was all bent and HEAVILY damaged. I was so angry.

Can't believe some people are this stupid ! Come on, what are they thinking !!

    The positive side....

That is a pretty carpy deal and I guess some good is comming out of this. I'm new to this forum, and trading cards online for that matter but I'm glad that you posted this because its a reminder to NEVER do that. Its sort of common sense to send your card away in something protective because we all know how the post office treats their packages, but as someone said earlier...it was probably like that before you bought it. If there is anything wrong with the card I am about to send, I will tell the other trader the condition before any further deals are made. Thanks for the interesting post.

Hearing about things like this about ebay adventures keeps me off ebay. At least for the time being. the one thing I like about trading here is this is an "Open Forum", and comments are quick about bad experiences with shipping practices here, which in turn makes us a little more vigilant in packaging our trades/sales.

On ebay I don't see an open forum, and it also would seem that some sellers are willing to risk a few bad comments, from some bad packaging. Also it seems that they are the ones that are a little less educated on what is acceptable for proper shipping, or just play dumb.

    Wow..

I literally *JUST* had this happen to me - similar story.. got a steal on an Ethan Werek jersey /10 -- tossed in a bubble mailer with NO protection.

By any chance.. was it the seller

    1average_joes1

When I asked *that* seller why he shipped this way (mind you, the card was fine - luckily!!) he said "I ran out of top loaders and because of the stitching in the jersey it does not fit in regular top loaders. It cost me $2.88 to ship - what do you want me to do? I can offer you discounting shipping on your next purchase"

Nope.. it cost $1.22 for shipping, plus whatever he paid for the bubble mailer.

    Grrr...

    PS..

If it *IS* the same seller I just dealt with, and I have a VERY good feeling that it is.. I've just written the following message to him (see, when I thought it was just ME it happened to.. I let it go -- but now that I know it has happened SEVERAL times, well.. it ™™™™™™ me off).. here is what I've sent to him:

    "Hey there,

Looks like you're developing a reputation for shipping cards with ZERO protection (ie. top loader). Foolish me for believing when you said you ran out and couldn't fit my card in a "regular" top loader -- but this isn't right.

You should know that your name is being exposed on the trading forums around the web - and it won't stop, unless you start to ship properly.

It's disgusting.. there's absolutely no reason for it.

Tomorrow when I have a bit of free time I will be following up with eBay, PayPal or anyone else I can to ensure you don't ship to anyone else this way.

But first - I'll give you a chance to comment, defend yourself.. or possibly even make things right to myself and the other buyers you've done this to.

    Thanks!"

    ... we'll see what happens.
