The 1986 Mets. The subtitle of the book: "A season of brawling, boozing, bimbo chasing, and Championship baseball with Straw, Doc, Mookie, Nails, the Kid, and the rest of the 1986 Mets, the rowdiest team ever to put on a New York uniform--and maybe the best."

Agreed - excellent book.
Here's some of my favorites...if you want more info, just let me know.
The Soul of Baseball: A Road Trip Through Buck O'Neil's America by Joe Posnanski - probably my favorite baseball book of all time. He also wrote The Machine on the 1975 Reds that I couldn't put down. He's easily my favorite columnist around.
Biographies:
Sandy Koufax: A Lefty's Legacy by Jane Leavy
Ted Williams: The Biography of an American Hero by Leigh Montville
There are more, but I loved those three.
