Well I'm sure Hall would have tested very high too if he tested. For those unaware, Hall opted out of testing. He's got some lingering issues after two straight Mem cup wins and MVP titles.

Like the guy said before, it will all come down to needs. Both players are outstanding young talent and will be on a similar par to what we call the Ovechkin and Crosby debate.
The Oilers have some awesome talent coming through. Eberle (rw), Paajarvi-Svensson (lw) as well as the first team regulars like Gagner, Hemsky is still only 26 and Cogliano.
As I said, the Oilers or the Bruins will benefit from either immensely. I think Boston struck a good deal with the Leafs to get the 2nd pick!

There is absolutly no way to justify taking Seguin. The fact is - Hall is the superior talent.
I'm convinced that Seguin was moved to the number 1 slot, just so TSN & Sportsnet had something to talk about.
It's a lot like last year's draft. There were countless articles written as to why the Islanders should select Hedman over Tavares (and even a few pushing Duchene). It was never going to happen.... Tavares was an obvious #1 choice, but that doesn't make for a good article.

This. Once again completely agree with Sean. And honestly talent wise, Kabanov is better than Seguin. Kirill has wicked skills and the only reason HE wasn't ranked up there was due to injuries and attitude issues

Wow, what discussion. I too was impressed with the NHL combine results. Seguin is a machine. I have heard some analysts say he still needs to grow and gain some size. Put that to rest already. The kid is a machine who has hockey sense, ability and great skill sets. If Patrick Kane can pull it off with his size, it should not be an issue for Seguin. Taylor is no push over either, but it would have been nice to see some numbers (at the combine). I would hate to think he did not participate due to an injury that could potentially become more problematic for an NHL club. This could have an affect on his draft position. Maybe.... that is what he wants. Become the second pick and play for a contender. It's easier to have success and put up higher numbers with established players (he's done it already). The better the numbers the greater your stock. The more likely you win a Calder. The more likely you win a cup. Case and point, Hall's supporting cast this year (with the Spitfires). Surrounded with good players increases your numbers and your stock. If Seguin was with the Spitfires, would he have had identical success? Let us be realistic, it is possible. When is the last time the Oilers had a 40 goal scorer or a 90 point player. They have been lacking upper echelon talent for some time. How many superstars are on the Oilers? Many semi-stars... yes. Superstars....no. The Oilers do have potential don't get me wrong. The question is how much? and will it ever be reached. Up front the Bruins are led by Savard, the Oil by Hemsky. Granted both had injuries this year, when healthy Savard has done more (Top ten in scoring multiple times.... Hemsky nope). On defence the Bruins have Norris winning Chara. The Oil has the often injured, I don't wanna' play in Edmonton Souray. In net the Bruins Have Vezina winning Thomas and Future Vezina winner Rask. The Oil has Khabibulin who will take a year to fully rehab from back surgery just in time to retire so he can deal with his DUI. Deslauriers and Dubnyk come nowhere near Rask when it comes to future. On a positive note however the Oil have an awesome pool of prospects (Eberle, Paarvi-Svennson etc.)
I have heard rumors that there may be some hesitance for either player (Hall or Seguin) to play in Edmonton. I would hate for that to be true. Isn't Hall's agent Orr? I know the rumors have not been substantiated however I think it could definately be believable for both players to desire the Bruins. I love my Oil, however there is so much change right now, it has to leave a little uncertainty in the eyes of an NHL player. If you were to be drafted and got to chose between The Capitals or the Thrashers you would probably take the Caps. How about the Pens or the Panthers...I think you get my point. Boston got thier draft position via the Kessel trade, not because they sucked. They are a better team currently in the NHL. I do think it is possible for the Oilers to rebuild into a great team. I hope whomever they take has the maturity and commitment to allow them to do so. In the end I hope the Oilers take the player most willing to put his heart and soul into the team. The fans deserve it.
Just my thoughts,
Warno

I see that Tyler Seguin can't make it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs, well that should make him the perfect fit for the Bruins!
