A couple of good points here.

First off, I think there is no way that the collecting community would not consider The Cup Rookies to be true Rookie Cards..... just becuase it came out in late July, or even early August. The one thing that Upper Deck could do to cause a real red flag though (are they still rookie cards?) is have The Cup released AFTER 2010-11 Victory. That would be enough for me to question if I still consider them rookies, and the collecting public to question it too.

As for the Kovy RC: Clearly that one is a rookie card. The difference between it and an Upper Deck HG or Exclusive - it's not a parallel.

Also - Hockey hobbists most certainly put a premium on the parallels of Rookie Cards. They just don't consider them to be rookie cards. Look at BAP that just came out. Player's Club Parallels /15 are fetching much more in sale value than the RCs /99 (I know I paid about tripple for the the one I wanted, vs the true RC). The Player's club, to me, is just as much an insert as the BAP Rookie Jersey /250. Neither are part of the regular set, and neither are a rookie card.

They will be and are rookie cards just as they were last year when the product came out in early August.

Oh, and Beckett is a joke.

wasn't the rookie cut off date for when the players have played an official NHL game by? also, The Cup has always seemed to come out beginning of December. that hasn't changed any of the RC designations from previous years yet.

I'm sure that this is a typo on your part - when has The Cup ever come out in December?

I have decided there are no longer any rookie cards outside Victory and MVP brands.

Also the cutoff for rookie cards is now 2 years after a rookie debuts.

Oh and no more auto rookies, any card autoed and issued in a rookie year is now a parallel.

    Sound good?

    Hey Guys,
Sorry to dig up and old thread, but just sa on the UD Facebook page the new dates for release:
    2010-11 NHL Victory - 8/3/10
    2009-10 NHL O-Pee-Chee Premier - 8/10/10
    2009-10 NHL The Cup - 8/24/10

Was it like this last year? Did they release 2009/10 Victory and THEN 2008/09 The Cup? Personally I think it's crazy to be releasing something almost a month after the next years product is out.

Honestly I don't see the problem since they print Victory (seriously) about May. It's basically done, but yet to be released by then. The Cup is being printed almost a year before release for some cards.

Ah, it's all this release date stuff is plain dingle crap to me now.

When it comes out I look, if I like, I chase. I don't "anticipate" or "eagerly await" anymore, my life is too busy for that.

    That is all.

Isn't Beckett supposed to FOLLOW the market and not guide it?

If collectors call them RC, why would Beckett declare them otherwise?

Beckett trying to influence the market, or rather control it?
