Pretty sure that those pucks get to go to either the guy that scored them (unless Pronger gets a hold of it!) or the HHOF - the card companies probably never get a whiff of them.

ya I agree with above those game winning goal pucks would most likely go to whoever scored it and to cut something like that up is just wrong

Well if it was upper deck they could say that it was one of the pucks used in the game.. just like they do photo shoot jerseys

Just wanted to throw something out there - I had a great conversation with someone at Upper Deck (during the NHL Draft last weekend)

    Couple things to note

    1. Montreal Canadiens went to Upper Deck to make that set - not the other way around. Montreal supplied UD with a lot of info and help on the product -
    2. Upper Deck would have never been able to do it without Montreal Canadiens help since a lot of those players agreed to do that set only because Montreal asked them to do it. (Some of the players will not sign a contract to do cards - Autos, etc)
    3. Unless a team provided the players and some photos from their own archives, the set wont happen again

I threw some ideas out to him and, like the Montreal set example, it would be extremely difficult to get everyone to sign contracts to make a set - Here were a few I deas I threw at him

    1. Retired Jersey Set (All retired jerseys in the NHL)
    2. Complete HHOF set (with quad autos of each year's class) - BTW - HHOF would not help UD IF they even thought about doing this one
    3. Complete team set (every player to play for a team) - exclusive to that team
    4. All-Star set (Every player to play in an All-Star Game)

The problem is getting the NON-NHLPA players to sign contracts - some are really good (Howe, Gretzky, etc) but many do not like to give their autos or even allow anyone to cut up hockey history so they dont sign

I dont think it would be a problem for UD to get a game used playoff puck. not all players collect every puck they score. A Stanley Cup game winner, I doubt but a game 3 game winner, I dont see how they can get it - they get jerseys, sticks, nets, draft boards, etc....pucks shouldnt be a problem

Anyway - there was more but this was just a great bit of info and helped me understand more why card companies do what they do.....

BTW - if anyone has the entire Montreal set.......LMK Please - Have something I would like to find out on the set....
