ya, i have to admit, i've never been a lightening fan, but they sure do appeal more now with stamkos, but i can say i've always been a big fan of St. Louis. He's a little guy, but he's a great goal scorer. im glad for him.

I don't think Ovechkins time was up. I think whoever cues the music screwed up. They thought his speech was over because he paused for so long. It was pretty funny that he stayed up there til they turned his mic back on.Last edited by DanielSweeney; 06-24-2010 at 06:06 AM.

While I disagree on the Keith part, I wholeheartedly agree about Mike Green. He is so grossly overrated it's not funny. I had Keith & Doughty going 1-2, and would have been happy with either winning, but I do believe that Keith had the best season of any d-man out there.
I wouldn't worry, though. Doughty, Keith, and hopefully soon Weber will be feuding over that trophy for many years to come...
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Not going to write my own response, becuase Rich already said it nicely.
Green = overrated. Keith / Doughty = toss up.

Lady Byng voting:
Georges Laraque, MTL 1 (0-0-0-0-1)
This has to be from some smarmy Montreal writer who wanted to give BGL a vote for his gentlemanly "code" for fighting.

Agreed with Richard and Sean on the Doughty situation. He definitely should've finished at least 2nd behind Keith. Obviously he could've won as well, but a guy on the team that was the best in hockey this year is hard to argue with. He deserved to win, and I'm sure Doughty, Keith, and as said Shea Weber will be battling it out for many more Norris' to come

Doesn't matter if we're talking about the Norris, or any other trophy...... while my first choice for winner didn't necessarily win them all, there are very few cases were someone was nominated, and wasn't deserving of the trophy.
You could present a great argument for Brodeur for Vezina (league leader in Wins, Shutouts), Duchene for Calder (most points by rookie, showed incredible poise for a first year player), Doughty for Norris (it's been discussed to death) or even Crosby for Hart. None of these would have been bad choices, but the guys that did win weren't bad choices either. That's why they nominate 3 :)

Or Jimmy Howard for Calder, seeing he carried the Wings into the playoffs. The Calder was very tough. I think the Hart may of been the easiest one to vote for.

I found Hart the hardest actually, those 3 all had good years, and are all invaluable to their teams. Seeing Ovie win the Ted Lindsey showed how close this probably was.
Calder, if you look at overall reliance that their teams' success had on them, Myers was the right choice (prob Howard next). Though I do think Duchene is going to be a great player, and did do well for his age.
Norris, Keith was my pick, but I agree that he and Doughty both control games like few others. Green is great offensively, but all-round he doesn't compare to the other two.
Vezina, Miller was awesome, Bryzgalov a little less this year, and that's how it turned out. Brodeur is always good, had good stats from playing on a good defensive team, but didn't carry his team the same way the other 2 did.
Tippett for Jack Adams was also a no-brainer.

ROBBED I say!
Not only in 3rd place voting but not even close to Green.....Doughty was LOW 3rd place....
Sick of East Coast Bias.....No respect for the West (BTW - shocks me that Sedin won....not that he isnt good and I actually wanted him to win - but with East Coast Bias and Crosby being the posterboy for the NHL - its shocking)
