Exactly...because the Knicks are the only team that will give him a MAX contract.

They might just as well give Patrick Ewing the max contract. . .

You try so hard to be funny, but you're not. Joe Johnson can score and help a team but he doesn't deserve a MAX contract

That's exactly my point though and I'm glad you agree, it's more of an analogy than a joke.
Max money to Joe Johnson = money wasted = Knicks not really going anywhere with him is similar to Max money to Patrick Ewing = money wasted = Knicks not really going anywhere with him.
As a team you really don't want to be tied down for the next 5 years to Joe Johnson in a max contract, especially when you are a team trying to change the attitude of your disenchanted fans and the general negative mood of your franchise.
Just trying to share my comments, and it's in my personality to not try to be so serious, but I apologize if you are offended by my comments (Is it because I dislike the Lakers? ha ha ha)

If I was a Knicks fan, I'd be hoping for Johnson and Amare to get get signed. Then I'd hope that I could get Phoenix to take Curry's expiring, Gallinari, and Chandler for Nash and Barbosa. Use the last couple million under the cap so fill the bench with scrubs. Use the MLE to get 1-2 decent bench players. They'd be the Suns: Eastern Version. That's probably their best case scenario.

Sorry... they have a better chance of getting Lebron.
How can anyone say if they were a Knicks fan that they would be hoping to get Johnson and Amare???
Really?
All year long us Knicks fans have had the carrot dangling in front of our faces with the likes of Wade, Bosh, Lebron, Boozer, even Dirk's name being thrown around. You would be happy with... Joe Johnson.
Again I think Johnson has talent and is a very good player, but we're settling on signing him because hes one of the big names out there... Whats worse is if the Knicks do sign him im sure they would think us fans would be getting excited about it.
I would rather them save the money, wait for Melo next year and find a way to get Chris Paul. (I'll keep saying that forever... lol)

Because for the Knicks, that's the best case scenario. There's a 0% chance LeBron goes to the Knicks. Why would he? Cleveland, Chicago, Miami and New Jersey are ALL better options than going to the Knicks. Why would LeBron take the 5th best (probably 6th best since the Clippers actually have some talent to put around him) option out there?
How are they gonna do that? They have to fill out a roster for this upcoming season, lol.Last edited by nadeau01_johnson48; 06-30-2010 at 02:06 AM.

No- theres actually a 1% chance Lebron comes to the Knicks and still that 1% chance is so much better than the prospect of giving max contracts to JJ and Amare.
I just feel if they dont get Lebron they should not rush into signing bad contracts for the sake of signing FA's from this years bunch. Its been 40 years since our last championship, we can wait a year or two more.
It doesnt matter... JJ will probably be Knick and Lebron will be on either Chi or Mia and us Cavs/Knicks fans can have have our hopes of what could have been squashed like a grape.
If he doesnt sign w/ the Knicks the last thing i would want to see happen is the three princesses, with all their "summits", get together on Miami and Pat Riley return to the bench... ugh.
