    certain ads running in the background of certain sites can actually be the culprit in the about:blank virus....it takes over your internet explorer.....the only way i was able to get rid of it was by doing a complete reformat of my hard drive and making sure to get an updated version of antivirus and antimalware software...not to mention a new firewall....basically had to start from scratch

    anytime i see that virus (asking you to download this "antivirus program)...I run malwarebytes "anti malware" program and it usually fixes any problem I have. Use the link here for the free version and that should do the trick for you. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...-10804572.html

    i would go into msconfig and look to see what programs are starting on start up. my parents computer had a virus and i found it in there, look to see if there are any programs you don't recognize

    Try to make your computer go back to an earlier date. It might work and that's what i did last time.

    if any of these other hints dont help (hopefully one of them will) then pm me and ill try and explain how to reformat your hard drive (wipe it clean and start over)

    says msconfig.exe is infected another message box says
    its a password stealing attack,trojan,dropper or similar and
    attack from 246.207.51.128 port31836
    attack port 61516
    threat : Win32 /Niqel.E
    and do you want to block this attack?
    yes or no?

    virus wont let me do system restore either

    try restarting your sytem in "safe" mode and see if that helps you gain some control over your system....when i got this virus it corrupted my system restore and like i previously stated...had to start from scratch
