    Kings Fans - Now What?

I'm fine that the Kings didn't sign Kovalchuk. Clearly, he was looking for the most money he could get and he took it from NJ. He's not a guy that's won before and he's not a guy that will win in the future. He's a me-first player and I'm glad he'll be in NJ and not in LA.

So, what does DL do next? Here's what I have come up with so far as far as options....what would be your suggestion?

    i would do the following...

    1. check in with Burke and see what it would take to get Kaberle.
    2. make a run at Langenbrunner now that NJ has to shed salary
    3. let the kids try to win some jobs

here's what we have right now...

    Smyth-Kopitar-Williams
    Richardson-Stoll-Brown
    Parse-Handzus-Simmonds
    Clune-Moller-Westgarth

    Doughty-Scuderi
    Johnson-Drewiske
    Fransson-Greene

    Quick-Bernier

at forward, first you have the young guys that either make the team or go to junior (Schenn, Clifford).
then you have guys like Lewis, Cliche, Elkins and others that could find their way into the bottom six.

on defense at least one out of fransson, hickey and voynov will make the roster unless a trade is made. drewiske made the team out of camp last year and should be fully healthy now so he has a good shot. harrold will probably be the utility guy again.

i see a ton of possibilities both up front and on the blue line. we'll see a lot of competition for jobs and hopefully we'll see a few guys win spots outright.

there are still guys out there that DL can go after...

    UFA's
afinogenov, kozlov, satan, torres, ma bergeron, mara, asham, guerin, ponikarovski, belanger, dawes, johnsson, boynton, tucker, yelle, svatos, salei, comrie, pisani, modin, halpern, nolan, hnidy, grebeshkov, stempniak, armstrong, kariya, wellwood, mitchell...

plus, you have guys like Savard and C.White that are likely to be moved.

    not time to panic.

Kovalchuk would have put LA on the map, they have no superstar to talk about, whats all the hype for Jack Johnson, he really hasn't done alot, Doughty is miles ahead of him in everyway.

Drew Doughty is your next superstar, just my 2 cents.

no super star? Doughty is 10X the player Kovalchuk is. he was a Norris Trophy finalist at 20. L.A. isn't "on the map" because they play in the West and no one sees their games at 10pm on the east coast.

Burnside said if a draft was held today he would pick 1. Crosby 2. Ovechkin 3. Doughty.

if there's a definition of superstar, Doughty is it.

if somehow DL could manage trading out Stoll for Savard i'd be thrilled. or even bring in Savard and put Stoll on the wing.

i truly believe Fransson is going to be a regular d-man this year for the Kings. i think we can pair him up with Greene and then look at Drewiske or Hickey to play with Johnson.

    i'd love to re-sign Modin if he'll take a 2 year/$4M deal.

I would have to say most LA fans are blind, because you don't see the whole picture, Doughty has to play awhile more to be clasified a superstar, Lidstrom use to win the Norris every year and for the Wings he was no superstar, he was just a good player.

kovalchuk didn't make the playoffs until 24 and didn't win a playoff game until 27.

    doughty did both @ 20.

wins > goals - i know you don't get that.

No comment about your great D-MAN, JJ, average at best.
