It'll be a nice product for those set people who like to build OPC type stuff, as for me, I think I'll pass.

Ahhh nice, more retro looking cards to remind me of my paycheques that went straight to score and proset.

Personally, I like it.. I'm a fan of the throwback stuff and since those designs are "my generation" (unlike the 79-80 Retros, etc.) it's definitely appealing!

They're saying 36 packs per box, but no mention of how many cards per pack. If they're going with 12 card packs (like back in the day) this looks like a really good buy, at $36 / box.
I usually limit my boxes to UDS1 & UDS2 - but if box prices are under $40, and you're getting 432 cards per box - this might be worth a box or too.
Checklist (specifically the rookies) is going to have something to say about that too.

wow those cards take me back to when I started collecting, love the look of them, might bust a couple boxes to do the set, I'm like panini making cards more and more by the looks of it.

This will be a fun set to collect as a piece of nostalgia for us mid-aged collectors, and fun if getting a youngster involved in the hobby.

The product — initially expected to be Panini’s premiere release under its new hockey license — will follow Certified into the market but will pack a bevy of its own distinctive bells and whistles, not the least of which are a $.99 pack price and a massive 550-card base set that includes 50 rookies.
In a nod to Score Hockey’s landmark first release in 1990-91, this new-generation version includes a little of the old (36 packs per box and throwback inserts such as The Franchise and Snow-Globe Die-Cuts) with a lot of the new (autograph cards seeded one per case, including on-card BuyBacks from the original 1990-91 set).
HOW CAN YOU NOT TRY 1?
