The Only thing wrong with the Caps was the same thing that was wrong with the Russians at the Olympics... They don't put together a 100% team effort. It seems that Ovy\Backstrom\Semin\Green and company were trying to do it themselves instead of planning as a team.

The Caps will only go as far as Ovy can take them, Montreal controlled him pretty good the last couple of games and look what happened, ZILCH, NATTA, NOTHING, Caps have to get tougher and play hard all the time, not just when Ovy's line is on the ice, Green is one dimensional, all offence and no defense, we saw that against Montreal.

as a hab fan I will contradict some of the popular opinion here that the caps won't win or contend for a cup this year or in the next few years
the embarrasing loss to mtl will only strenghten their resolve to make amends by going much farther by making a run at lord stanley this year,
the bad news for caps is that philly and boston will stand in their way by being better this year and making it harder to get to the final
caps last year had a bonafide chance to get to the final hadn't it been for the hiccup vs mtl

As much as I would love to say Caps for the Cup this year, it all boils down to the blue line and the net. Varly seems to be on when he wants to be, and Neuvy hasnt been playoff tested, unless you count his achievements in Hershey. When Green stops drinkn his own kool aid and starts playing defense, and actually has someone with him on the point to help contain the zone, then maybe, just maybe, we could make a serious run.
