Last thing you want to do is pound the pavement, if there is a local park nearby, then walking on the weekend would be a great alternative, just make sure its soft under foot like grass. During the week, I would use the bike religiously, if you could perhaps invest in a rowing machine, that would be a great alternative. Not only do you strengthen your core, you are strengthening your calf muscles just like on the bike and working on your abs as well
    Hope this advice helps.

My advice would be to do whatever you enjoy the most. The more you like it, the more inclined you are to do it. If you choose walking, mix it up a little on weekends by maybe doing park trails, etc. The other thing is to try to give it at least 3 weeks before quitting. The rule of thumb is it takes that long to make it a habit/routine.

    Best of luck to you!

Thats for the great advice guys. I'll keep you all updated on what I decide to do and how its all goes down. I am a high school teacher and I report back to work on Monday so my summer vacation is over. If I walk or ride a bike it will have to be after school.

    Thanks again...

Well, my only point is that anything diet shouldn't really be an issue. Now regular coke.....ahhhhhhhh.

Those sweeteners are really bad for you. They have also shown to cause weight gain, actually.

    Update!

I decided to start with walking. So, after I had dinner today at 6pm I went on a 2 mile walk. I started at 6:30 and I was finished by 8. I took it slow since I did not want to push it. There is an upside that there were a few hotties who were also walking and I had a nice view.

My current weight is 236 and I'll weigh myself very Friday.

Exercise tip:>>> Drink lots of water, lots of Beer, Eat light, and work hard. The rest will take care of itself. I have been between 195 and 200 for the last 16 years. It works, I am living proof...

I would recommend bike riding, start at a nice slow pace and build from there.
