A little hobby perspective.....
Just wanted to share this. Not everyone is on the same page as me on this but maybe a few! So I've been setting aside a little dough every week in hopes of having the $375 for the Cup when it's released...needless to say after about 5 months or so got about $410 together, also save all my change in the center console of my truck...wound up being about $300. So obviously real happy with the card funds at this point.
Then this summer got back into mountain biking again and I'm in desperate need of a new bike. So I ask my wife if I can spen around $600-$800 on a new bike (she's a CPA so needless to say she handles our finances...LOL). Her reply is not really bc our first child is on the way in Feb and we just got our first home about 2 years ago. So kinda bummed but I'll live. Then got to thinking and talking with a friend of mine who collects and decided to take the card funds and get a new ride with it.
I enjoy the hobby but at the end of the day, a $70 box of UD1 or $100 Artifacts is just fine by me. And really I'll pull a PC card or trade or sell for a PC card thats gonna get shown on here once or twice and then I'm gonna pull it out and admire it from time to time, but a new bike I'm gonna ride a few times a week.
Just one of those times where I'm glad I could sit back and take a look and realize this hobby is a lot of fun...even with out a few tins of the Cup!!!!
And thanks for the delay UD...this wouldn't of hhappened without you TBD Cup status

That's very cool. Congrats on the upcoming first-born as well!
I've been contemplating lately storing up some cash that would otherwise be spent on cards to get one of the limited edition copies of George W. Bush's forthcoming autobiography. It's #'d /1000 (what is it, a 90s insert? LOL) and will be hard-signed by GWB himself. As some of you may know, my book is based on the intellectual principles of the Bush Doctrine as a foundation for American foreign policy in the 21st century. It would be an amazing piece to have.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Priorities, exactly.
Congrats on the kid first of all (February will be hear quickly) but if you needed a new bike, than glad you got one.
The cards I have from past issues of The Cup are some of my favorites, but I wouldn't go near a packs. For the cost of a Tin or two, I'm sure you'd be able to pick up several nice Cup singles that you really wanted anyway.

Hmmm...
A mountain bike?
Or....
Some cardboard??
Looks like you made the right choice to me. I love mountain biking and it sounds like you got a nice bike as well. Much better in the long run.

congrats on the bike purchase, always better than 5 pieces of card board, I always save the money and buy new golf clubs, now only if they could make me better.

Seems like 95% of the people on SCF could use a bike over a tin of the cup. Collectors are cardio deficient!
