Royce is certainly the godfather of the UFC and is a legend in the sport. That said, without Dana and the Fertittas, there would be no UFC today. The Gracie family sold their interest in the UFC to SEG after UFC 5. The UFC was on the verge of bankruptcy when the Feritta's purchased it for $2 million from SEG and then put another $40 million into it before ever seeing a profit.

So yes, Dana and the Fertittas now own a multi-billion dollar company because of the risk they took in purchasing the almost bankrupt UFC. They turned around the business and are now reaping the rewards. To say that what they make is unfair compared to Royce's income (and I'd bet anything he makes well over $100k a year) is very short-sighted and incorrect.

You guys are missing my original point entirely. Yes Dana White has helped shape the ufc into what it is today. In reference to salary comparison. Is there some irony in a card with the two of them in a set named thoughts from the boss"? I believe so. If a majority owner sells a company to another entity, said entity becomes his "boss", then they make a card about it, there is some irony in my opinion. It would be even more so had Dana originally worked for the gracies in the first 4 ufc events, but alas he didn't. I'm really unsure as to where the other comments/assumptions came from.

I totally understand what you are thinking....I just see no Irony whatsoever in what you are saying.

Royce was never the "Boss" of anything so your analogy doesnt hold up.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship was Art Davie's Brain child. he got the idea from seeing the Gracies fight and brought the idea to Rorian. The Gracies did not name the event, dream up the event or even promote the event ( That was Campbell McLaren )

I suppose the reason that so many people are confused by your initial post is because there is no real Irony here at all.

Although the points you stated are correct, your leaving out an important part of the story. Lorenzo Fertita sat on the NSAC board of directors for years before the purchase of the UFC and Keith Kizer.

So basically what he did was block the sanctioning of the UFC in Nevada and then once that happened he was able to purchase it for nothing and get it sanctioned.
They say the fight game is a dirty business for a reason. Because it is.
