    Custom fee problem

Hi all, just wondering if there is any other collector located in China or places other than NA. We ordered a case of the CUP for just over 2000USD but it was taxed for 600. THis is nearly 30%. Any idea on how to minimize this for the next purchase (if there is still one)

    Yeah.....move!

Sorry couldn't resist. Considering where you live, I think you did pretty good. It's a wonder their tax wasn't higher.

What on earth are you doing in China? Teaching?

Seems most anything coming into China automatically has a 17% VAT on it. So your 2000 USD case just cost you an extra 340$ right there. That doesn't even include the normal import taxation rate that may be applied. Most of the documents I can find are about 5 years out of date, but they also suggest that you will be taxed on the shipping cost as well.

Without circumventing the system, either through a corrupt local dealer, or asking D&A to mislabel your cards, there really isn't a legal way to get through Customs with paying less tax. If you live in a country, you have to either live by the laws, try to change them, or move.

    Cheers,
    reoddai

Thanks Reoddai for the research and information.

I just got the bill. The VAT tax is at 17%...and card itself is subject to 10% tax....this is rediculously high...

Oh man, I am not sure if I can do this again unless I pull something good tonight. The case is with me, will wait till get off work to break it together with my friend.
