ebay shill..again... How does ebay handle it?
Shilled auction. ebay 270655074752
The person in question a***9 has 958 bids but only 42 feed back. The person has 162 retractions among 20 sellers.
I looked at the item I won, he bid it up over my bid by $6 or so, he then retracted his bid and placed a bid fricken 0.02 cents under mine. I only noticed it because the margain was so close to my bid. I really don't like how ebay hides names now. I got a decent deal on a PC card, but he prevented me from a better deal and cost me $6 over the next legit appearing seller. He did this about 4 hours before it ended. I 'thought' it wouldn't let you retract a bid under 12 hours without the seller agreeing!
I know there are people who drive up the value of cards they own. They want to establish a higher price, I had someone do it to an item I was selling and I have no idea who or why they did it. I don't want to just throw this on the seller, but they did allow the retraction.
I can still use the card, ebay item #270655074752. It has sold anywhere from $22 to $39 since release. It's more on principle. I'll give someone in need $20 worth of food without thinking, but I won't let someone steal the 0.48 cents in my car cupholder. I'll probably still buy it, its not worth getting a neg over, but does eBay deal with this kind of behavior?

eBay has demonstrated consistently that they do nothing about shill bidding.
As for this:
I 'thought' it wouldn't let you retract a bid under 12 hours without the seller agreeing!
If they're in cahoots, it's very easy to get the seller to agree to that.
It's a shame that this sort of thing happens, I just wish that when presented with clear-cut evidence of shilling eBay did something about it.
Before somebody inevitably posts it....yes I realize that on Card X I said that I would be willing to pay up to $25.00 for such card. I have no problem doing so when I am in legitimate competition with other bidders. I do have a problem seeing somebody with zero feedback that just so happens to live in the same city as the seller (and yes, you can find out but you really have to work at it) bidding repeatedly with every bid ending in .99 so that my bid is still the highest but now inflated to that maximum when otherwise the last legit bidder gave up at $7.50.Last edited by RGM81; 11-04-2010 at 02:38 PM.

The seller aggreement quote was a little tounge in cheek. If it was some one screwing around, it would have been before 12 hours. The point is its an auction. Ebay extra fees for reserves and the fact a reserve is on there at all drives a few away. I bought one similar card (cup auto #/50) from trader here for $35 with out questions. A couple bucks won't break me, but if this happens on 10 auctions, there's $60 and another decent card. I figure if I complain to ebay, they'll blow me off an PO me worse. If I write a nasty note to the seller, I miss out on feedback for something that cost me more anyway. It was so blatent it insults the intelligence of anyone who sees it.

I filed 3 electronic complaints with ebay and no luck. It appears they are going to stick me with NPB. I called their 'questions' number and got someone named Patrick with a heavy accent. I basically had to tell him what happened, then explain to HIM what ebay policies are. After 30 min, he agrees to transfer me to someone else whom which I have to explain the whole thing over to.
I dunno what the frick they will do, but my advise and plan for the future is to pay for it and leave a neutral or neg reply with comments "SHILL BIDDER" i try to give people the benefit of the doubt, no one cares.

Ebay sucks and never deals with anything! Thank goodness that the woman who formerly ran ebay and spent $150 million of her own money LOST in trying to become the new Republican governor of California as she would have been HORRID just like EBAY!!!

After 1.5 hours on the phone, they did agree with me and have cancelled the auction and NPB. I had to listen to several different reason why they didn't agree and every time I cited info right off their page. I offered the seller the chance to just cancel the auction, no reply. Now they are going to put both accounts in question on hold until one of their 'specialists' can look into it, whatever that means.

Yeah buyers can't receive a negative but they can receive a non paying bidder strike.
