Fall '10 Expo
Went to the Fall Expo today as I usually do on Friday and I had a blast! One thing I noticed is that there is a lot more high end stuff then I've noticed in the past. Lots of the "The Cup" and high end patches and autos.
Highlights of the show for me:
- while I was looking around my girlfriend went to the ITG giveaways and won me the gold prize (highest prize you could get). She won me a 07-08 H&P Blaster along with 5 assorted ITG packs and some assorted "show" only cards. The basic prize was one random pack of ITG cards, so she did really well for me.
- I found some tough items for the right price off my want list. I collect mainly 90's stuff and since most of the hobby considers it junk, it's confinded to the depths of basements, closets and former collectors who think the value is VERY high for there 90's mass produced cards. Items I landed included:
- 92-93 topps hockey box for $25. These babies are tough to find considering how many people tried to build the gold set back in the day
- 91-92 Kraft factory album with factory cut cards and a 92-93 Humpty Dumpty Factory Album with complete series 1 and 2 set. They were $10 each which is a steal. Factory cut Kraft cards are tough to find and the disc's that came under peanut butter are tough to find as well. I was VERY happy with tracking down these complete albums
I also picked up some other wants for the PC although nothing major. I've really cut back on my spending for cards and have focused on collecting older wax, oddball food issues, Terry Sawchuk (vintage only) and my PC players from the 90's. I've had a great time and have built up a impressive collection for a small amount.
While I have no problems with people shelling out a few hundred dollars for a card, I personally would never. I'm not into collecting for the money but more so for the challenege and fun. The cost of new product these days makes my head spin! Although I do enjoy looking at the new product, especially ITG.
I hope everyone has a good expo! Feel free to comment on the prices of cards in the present market, what you collect and why. I enjoy hearing from other collectors!

Jimmy:
Did you see any 90-91 Topps or Bowman Tiffany at the show?
Still the nicest and shortest cards printed.

I would LOVE to but I don't have the time to scan all my stuff. It would help me though build my collection to fill missing sets.

Yes they are glossy. I had 2 Red Wing Sets, now only have Bowman Yzerman Reg, and Hat Trick and Jari Kurri Reg.
When they are just normal they are ugly, but when they are Tiffany, they glow.
