My Local Shop Sucks
Everytime I go in their everyone stop and just stairs at me. It sucks because about 2 years ago it was a good SPORTS CARD shop now its all gaming nerd in their playing magic the gathering and whatever else they play. The whole store is mainly all gaming cards now they have alittle section behind the counter with sports cards..and when I go in there I just feel so uncomfotable. i have yet to have a good pull from anyhting I buy there. Is anyone else's card shop like this all little gaming nerds that just stair at you becuase god for bid you are going to buy sports card stuff...

My local shop kinda sucks as well, mostly because their prices are so high, and most of the singles they carry are Jordan, LeBron, and 49ers/Warriors/Sharks/Giants cards (since the shop is in the bay area where I live).

I had a pretty cool shop down here that I used to go to and one of my best friends was the owner, but unfortunately he is going out of business now and I really don't have any other shops around down here. He used to have a Yu-gi-oh night on Thursday night with all the little nerds but that was basically it. Not too bad, but I know what you mean about how annoying they are. I would go insane if I had to deal with all those kids, but I guess when your income depends on it you have to deal with it. Good luck with finding a better shop and getting some sweet pulls

I dont even have a local shop in my town anymore...I have to go to another town to buy cards.

its all about the money... you cannot possibly mke decent money selling singles of lesser known players and such so you are forced by area demand to sell what you can. Also they make GOOD money on gaming so they are forced to stock the shelves with what sells

They have one little corner for cards and one corner for comics. Gah.

My local shop is pretty nice. I've gotten to know the owner over the past 5 years pretty well. He always sets aside any Sox/Pats/Celtics stuff for me, and even any boxes I want. He also gives me a pretty nice discount now. (he just picks a price at random, but it's always good)
For Example the last few boxes I've gotten:
04 FB Sweet Spot, price tag $129, my price $99
04 Finite, tag $119, my price $90
Fleer Greats FB, tag $129, my price $95
04 Skybox autographics, tag $179, my price $120
2 Tins of SP signature edition, tag was $80 each, I got for $110 (i think)
Anyway, the prices are still sometimes higher than Ebay, but at least I know that I'm getting a quality product from him. I've been ripped off on the "bay" a few times. He also takes trades to knock down the price even more. I pulled a Namath auto and he was going to give me a free box, or $80 for it!!
(of course with my luck the frikan guy actually went and pulled one before I could sell it to him. )
Overal I love his place, he always has games on tv, and it's nice just shooting the breeze with him. He even gives my 2 year old daughter free stuff all the time. (beenie babies, toys etc)

My local shop is actually a local books and collectibles "super store" type of place. They sell books, videos, music CDs, cards, and other items for very low prices. It gets good business due to the variety of interesting things it sells cheaply. They have a good selection of both sports and non-sports cards. I see a lot of kids collecting Pokemon stuff sometimes as well, but there are also all kinds of people who are looking for the sports cards, books, etc. The only drawback to the place is that it is small; kind of a drawback, especially when some family decides to get together and socialize in front of the door. *rolleyes*

Well i have a little card shop I go to.It has mostly alot hockey stuff but there is a back wall with a big wooden shelf's with different kind of boxes or packs to get.There is a little selection of basketball but it is good enough to get so ok stuff.I didnt see any nerdy type cards there so i guess my shop I go to isnt that badd.lol

I used to go to one of four shops in my town of Portland. It had a steady selection of baseball cards, although the prices on the boxes were ROBBERY! I bought ALL the good boxes of cards and was happy w/ some and not with others. I asked him to get more stuff, new stuff, and special order. Did he? NO WAY! I speant over $2500 in less than a month w/ him and cleared his shelves and he just rolled on me. What a gerk wad.
So I go to this other place that is a little out of the way. They dont sell gaming card garbage, just sports! The tag prices were better, he gave me good deals on top of the low prices and was super cool about all my inquiries. I evev found out that the place I was going was notoriuos for PACK SEARCHING, DEAD BOXES, AND THE WORST OPENING...SEARCHING...AND RE-SEALING BOXES!!!!!!!!!!! This came from a couple customers at this other place I caught up with to trade and buy/sell with.
So if your shop is fille dwith little game card dweebs, fat, old, smelly D & D turds, and a little to no selection, don't worry. It's the name of the game in card shops. At least they are'nt searching you'r packs and boxes. HOPEFULLY. Good luck to you all in your search for the good stuff. Whatever it may be.
