An eBay shipping rate problem, what to do?

I bought 3 base cards of my PC guys to get it over with. The seller I bought it from (located in Michigan, where I live) charged two at $1 and one at $1.50, with $2.50 total shipping and $.21 sales tax?

First off, why did I have to pay sales tax?

Second and the problem. He charges $2.50 for as many cards, but it only cost him $.41 to ship (He said photos are in the bubble mailer, which makes it cheaper). I paid an extra $2.09 for shipping, which I see as a problem. Is it? I won't leave him a neutral or anything, but should I ask for a small refund?

No...you shouldn't its his right to charge how much he wants...

PErsonally i charge 0.50$ extra for every extra card...even if its not gonna cost me more...

but i have to cover the tops..and everything..and its reasonable

2.50$ to ship is really reasonable..you never count the ( enveloppe, the other supplies, the gas to go to the post...i feel everything should be counted...

and taxes..it required by the law...if he has a business..

He doesn't have a store, I asked. Maybe an eBay store, but who charges sales tax? I never seen that.

I get it is his right, but it cost him $.41 to ship. I didn't know it was so cheap for him to ship. If it is over $2, shipping is crazy enough. (I charge $2 shipping add $.25 each card). Fees aren't that much. I normally ship at $1.22, so anything that sells under $8 is covered by fees, and envelopes are so cheap. I get them for $.10 each, anyone can. Gas to get to the post office? Are you serious? He just slapped on a 41 cent stamp and walked to his mail box. Other supplies. Ok 3 penny sleeves $.03, two top loaders $.20. It cost him a total of $.74 to ship.

My point is if you charge $2.50 that is fine, but shipping that cheap, and charging that high, is outrageous. He charged over $2 more than it cost him.

ya i guess its diff in USa...

But in Canada Oversized mail is 1.22 + taxe 13% stamp..to ship in canada...

2$ + taxe 13% stamp to USA..( and 2$ is without customs declarations..and it takes 1 month for the card to get)..

I usually ship with customs declaration its 2.60$ with taxe + buble mail + toploaders + penny sleaves+ team bag...

i charge 3$ for usa and 2.50$ in canada..and that under ebay average

Halk of the Us seller charge 3.50$ to ship to canada..and the cost is 1.20$ i think..its rediculous..but doenst botther me..its no big deal..i leave him 3 stars at shipping cost thats it

i am also reasonbale when i combine..if shipping start to be too high...i stop adding 0.50$

but for 3 cards..shipped in buble mailer 2.50$ seeems rlly better than half of ebay..

Ive been charged $6 for shipping and it only cost them 2.50 but i really wanted the card and its kidn of a way for them to make money if the auction goes low. Also it depends on which state you are in, for example sales tax in CA, mostly everything i've boughten off ebay within the state has charged sales tax but they usually say that in the auction if they do or don't charge sales tax for the resident of the state.

Guess I'll ignore the situation. I mean if I shipped things for $.41 I'd charge $1 shipping. Shows how many money grabbers are in this world. Sad thing is, I charge very cheap rates, and my items sell 50% lower than anyone else. So always check my eBay, because you will get a great card for a cheap price.

Problem is, it wasn't $2.50, it was $.41. Maybe I should just hit him with a lower star on charges.

I do not see a problem with his shipping fee. There is no way that he was able to mail a bubble mailer for .41 and even more isn't the normal price of a stamp .44 any way? I feel that this is a VERY fair shipping price on ebay, because some charge over $3.00 for a single card. And maybe he does not have an actual storefront (physical) but rather runs it online. Those people are still taxed the same. Only if he had neither would I have a problem with paying sales tax, but as far as shipping fee, I believe that it is fair and with that I won more auctions for that rate. Just my .02

This one's really not a grave concern. As was noted earlier, there are other things that go into the actual cost of shipping a card than the price you see on corner of the padded envelope. There's the envelope itself, the team bag, the penny sleeve, the top loader...I don't mind all of that going into the price. Really, $2.50 for shipping is a bargain these days on eBay - there's a lot of folks that will charge $4 plus $1 per card.
