LOL We can definitely discuss Beckett and talk about them and their practices, we just can't randomly post their pricing or request it on the forums.
A few of the more cynical folks out there would imply something about a dart board as far as how they determine pricing, but I don't really think that's true.
I like to go for some consistency among pricing when I'm determining an SV for a card. If it regularly goes within a couple bucks of, say, 30 dollars I'll settle on a $30 price, and not point out that "look at this one auction though, it went for $60 that one time so I want that!" because, well, chances are it won't lead to much of a success for me. LOL
I think it's a bunch of averages and all of that sort of thing. Take the top five highest, the bottom five lowest, run the numbers, and go with that. It seems sensible enough.

yeah until we work for Beckett and not have to sign a non-disclosure agreement, we'll never know. I still don't know how they determined values before the internet existed.
And we're talking about Subban's retro here saying it should be on the 50-100 end of things but what about those common YGs like.. I can't even name them...Palmieri, Stoner, Tyrell... I've seen those sell on the bay for $0.99 + shipping. Should we expect Beckett to value those at $1-$2? Ouch!
Maybe Beckett's thinkingis they have to be generous for the stuff not selling well and control the 'inflation' for the stuff that is selling too well. Subban's stuff seems out of control so Beckett feels it's not reasonable and booking it at a lower range reins it back in.
But I guess this will lead to why is Beckett able to control the hobby prices of this world?!??!
Okay, I really have to get back to work.....

Bah, my approach is "Why start now?" LOL
When it comes to pricing and sales I do think that shipping has to be factored in to the cost. It's part of the price of business moreso than the price of buying the card, true, but if sellers couldn't charge shipping I don't think any of them would be on there selling 99 cent YG's. (This, btw, leads me to a totally separate line of thinking about selling prices that some expect a guy in Canada to sell a card to the US for a dollar because that's what it "goes for on eBay" but that's another story for another time and place) The common guys will get the standard $5-$8 probably, depending on how generous Beckett feels that day.
The Subban pricing will definitely be interesting to see. While I fully expect it to be just a notch lower than Hall, and rightfully so, exactly where it ends up will be the subject of some discussion. If I go to the card show on Saturday and start seeing $20 Subban YGs I'll have no other recourse than to conclude that the pricing is out and they've set it at a HI of $40. And I will buy many. LOL

The card sold on eBay 2 weeks ago for $67. Generally the top rookies will go for 2x what the base is. This card on eBay yesterday was selling for $42.
Two weeks ago the base subban was about $34 on eBay, but then everyone started selling it and then all of a sudden there were 10 Subbans ending in 24 hours and I fear some of them went as low as $12.
