Hmm, Well I love the Dome here in Calgary, fireballs after a goal, the lower bowl is just crazy (especially after Iggys 400th..8th row!) It's definately my favorite for Hockey!
In all sports I love Qwest field in Seattle, I went to a Seahawks game last year (41-0!) And the whole environment was nuts, 70 000 fans going crazy, for about 3 hours straight, I don't think we ever sat down, it is absolutely amazing!

Aside from history, I'd be shocked if anyone said Rexall. It's the only one I've been to, so I can't compare, but it's a dump.

Please get us a new arena Katz!

I havent been to any other arenas outside of Vancouver, but iv gotta say that the Pittsburgh arena looks amazing! i saw a little video of it, on youtube, and my jaw just dropped down to the floor.

Iv only been to 2 nhl arenas, and that is Rogers arena, and the Pacific Coliseum (when I watched the Vacnouver Giants play)...technically not an nhl arena anymore though.

Rogers arena is super cool before games, just like any other arena. Little street party before games, and the atmosphere is absolutely electric. Just being around the arena is almost like a "magic spell" I guess. I LOVE going there even when its dead outside...and theres no one around. It is a great place to be around at any time of the day.

But from watching on tv, I guess Id have to say that Calgary would be a fun place to watch game in. Its super duper cool in both of that city, because its not as hockey crazed as Montreal or Toronto...just right. I really like the energy of both of that crowd.

Edit: I saw that Jordan put that Rexall is a dump...so I guess Im not choosing that lol ;)

I went to the Pacific Colosseum for a Weezer concert once. Weezer was meh, the opening acts were aweful and the venue was worse. The closest I've come to an NHL game is WHL at Prospera Place here in Kelowna. Nice facilities but not much fun as you're really not allowed to do more than clap.

Becuase of that History though..... I gotta make it out there for a game (finally) before they close that dump.

    Well, there's a few reasons.

Keep in mind - I find most hockey rinks to all the same. The playing surface is (has to be) and the actual seating for any modern building is all pretty much identical. You get the same sight lines at any building (it isn't like Baseball or Football where the stadiums can be dramatically different, at least in some respects).

Columbus put the rink in a great spot (the way I understand it - they redeveloped the area based on the rink going there) so there's lots of hotels / restaurants / bars all within walking distance of it. Makes the whole night out that much easier and more enjoyable. While that doesn't make it a better rink - it does make people's impressions of it better.

For the rink itself, really the only way one building can distingguish itself from the otherse, is ease of access.... good concessions..... and how the concourse is layed out. I thought Columbus did a great job on all three fronts, making the game that much better to be at.

I'll admit though - I may be a little bit biased. My Avatar was a screen shot taken from the TV feed of that game. MacTavish isn't supposed to be the focal point..... it's me (in the Oilers jersey, having a drink, right behind his left shoulder). Me and the friend I went with had REALLY good seats when we were there.

That was a couple of years ago. Going back this winter for another game. Maybe my impression will be different?

If you're coming into C-bus this year shoot me a PM we can meet up down at the arena and I'll buy you a drink. I assume you're coming down for the Edmonton game Sat Feb 5th?

only been to the TD Garden in Boston.

different topic, but I have always wanted to see a home game in Edmonton, and a home game in Calgary.

I'd make a joke about all the geezers in Kelowna not being able to do much more than that without fear of breaking a hip....well, I think I pretty much just did.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The old Chicago Stadium was a great place to watch a game.
