Thanks for the heads up! And before anyone calls foul about missing ice rookies, they will be inserted in spx as well, so ud is just trying to spread the class out.

Well they've made Carey a double diamond this year so that will be a cheap & easy snag. That, the Ruby, and a GU and I'm set for him.
No Halak included anywhere in the set though. Ouch.
Brilliant of them to use more Yannick Weber sticker autos for the Gemography set.
There really isn't much here for Habs fans at all.
3 GUs: Carey, Gomez, and Shutt
2 autos: Subban and Weber
Base set: Plekanec, Markov, Gionta; doubles: Price, Gomez, Cammalleri; quads: Roy, Lafleur
Subban RC (Ice as well /99)
For the first time since I got back into the hobby there will be no box breaks of this set from me this year. Grab my singles and be done with it.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The checklist? As usual, lacking and not much depth. Brutal again.
Total fail by UD on the Ice rookies.
Top guys like Alex Burmistrov, Nino Niederreiter and Cam Fowler in the 499 version? I know you can't have EVERYONE in the 99 version but they did expand it the past few years and this year's class is DEEP. Plus seeing as this is an insert, they could have gone the extra mile and done a few more for bang for the buck.
But as usual with UD, why put the effort out?
Now I can't argue with the 5 they did do for the level 1 #/99 rookies except for maybe Derek Stepan. Plus they got their token Leaf (Kadri) in. So we know he'll be a Cup 99 rookie.
Thankfully they didn't screw it up for the Black Diamond quad rookies and got all the aforementioned in. This is one of those products I wished had been axed.
I really wonder what is going on over there sometimes...............Last edited by Prime B; 12-01-2010 at 01:22 PM.

Richard I love your pro-Habs posts, you kill me man.
I try to keep it to a minimum on the Kings bias when I respond to these types and judge it as a product across the board, not who has what I need of my team or guys.
If I did that UD would always fail.

They can't change the level or numbering of those guys I mentioned Jordan?
I think it is weak they water this down and make guys like Fowler and Burmistrov out of 499 instead of 99?
Why not add more bang and limit the production run instead of filling packs with cards of these guys that will be essentially worthless in the long run, especially players that have a bright future.

Well, I was referring to the edited out part lol
But as for the 499 vs 99 issue, I agree. Those players you mentioned absolutely should be /99 rookies, especially considering who was in he line up the last 3 years. The problem is, several people have complained about pulling a rookie out of 99 of a guy like brandon sutter, and saying that the checklist for /99 rookies is overly saturated. I personally have no problem with pulling a 99 rookie, whether it's a big name or an average player. It would still be a great pull for me, but unfortunately not everyone feels the same way and only want the top rookies, or they don't care.
Part of me thinks UD is trying to pay attention to recent complaints, but then I remember that these shouldn't even be in black diamond and it's just another cheap money grab

It's not really a question of bias so much as it is a quick & easy evaluation of how I determine what to buy. If there's a reasonable chance I'll pull a PC item, I'll break a box or more. If I know it's all going to be stuff for the traders box, based on the likelihood of pulling 1 of the 5 cards I have any interest in acquiring, I'll stick to the singles. Obviously the set's going to have all the rookies and a wide range of auto & memorabilia content, and that's good and fine for people that want to break it to build sets or stockpile their trading reserves. That's not my priority. It's even less of a priority when there are other sets being released within a short timeframe that do have items of interest for me.
