Crosby is great, does anyone think at the end of his career he will surpass Gretzky's goal, assist, or total pts? Or for that matter will anyone ever do this?

Crosby is already 3 seasons behind Gretzky at this point. He probably will be in Dionne/Francis Territory, as you still have to account for injury. He's been knocked out before, and he plays hard. He's sure to miss some more time in his career.
Also, as he gets older and his career starts to wane, he MUST be on a team that is in the top 5-6 of the league to ensure his point production. He won't get within Daylight of Guppy though.

Ovechkin???
dont think so, the great puck hog that he is wont come close to Gretzky
Gretzky was the master and had the vision to see the entire ice and could see the play developing before his eyes, all Ovechkin see is HIS chance to score and more time than not he does score and misses a great chance to pass to an open winger for the better scoring play
Thats what I like about Sidney crosby, he all around game is very much like gretzky and he will come closer to scoring those types of totals, but to be honest people are correct that therre is less scoring in the league and its also a more balanced attacked, so crosby hasw great line mates such as Malkin, Staal when he returns, talbot and the new kids are prodcuing also
anyways thats my 2 cents
thanks

I don't think you can compare and use point totals from Gretzky era. Crosby and Gretzky share the likeness as they are superstars in their era. The league is way more competitive and the goalies are a lot better these days. There is more competition. Before you can blast a puck before the blue line and it will go in but today its almost impossible.

No one will come close to Gretzky, ever.

Ovechkin "could" come close to the goal record but not Sid , nor anyone, will come close to the points record.

you do realize that Crosby is right even with Ovechkin as far as points for a career but also over 2 years younger than Ovy right? If anyone between the two it would be Crosby
