Private Message Etiquette?

Isn't it obvious what someone collects if they list it in their signature? What's the point of even having wants in their signature if people are still gonna ask what they collect? In PM etiquette,communication is key (which I agree,many people lack) even by using a simple no thank you but I too am sick of constant sale offers and I've had way too many "Nothing I can use,but will you buy?" replies. If I wanna buy cards,I'll put it in the title of my threads.
